Well, really I was referring to the fact that some species of octopus have detachable sex organs, so they actually do donate their whole organ to the cause. If Herschel is a hybrid, he may have that capability.
I’m not sure which of our cites was weirder, which is saying quite a lot. I’ll get back to you!
(cues up King Missile; BTW, the singer was able to go to law school with the royalties from this song)
Possibly NSFW.
All penises are detachable; the trick is reattaching them.
(Cues up John Wayne Bobbitt porn video; BTW, JWB was able to buy a small amount of cocaine with the royalties from this video)
What? You thought I was actually going to link to that?
Very NSFW.
Eons ago, my brother and I were skiing with my then-girlfriend, an heiress who had grown up on skis and raced.
I was (in truth, still am) a mediocre but enthusiastic skier. My brother had lived in Lake Tahoe for a while and skied 70-80d/year. He was advanced but not expert.
To me, my GF on skis was poetry in motion. To my brother, however, he pointed out flaws in her technique that seemed both picayune and invisible to me.
Point is: you have to be Just So Good to be able to evaluate whether somebody who’s clearly better than you is a LOT better than you.
This evening, I watched Mmmmargaret Hoover interview Raphael Warnock. I’m not sure if I’ve ever heard him speak at length before, but all I could think of is: Herschel Walker’s supporters must be, to rhetoric and intellect, what I was – back then – to evaluating accomplished skiers: uniquely incapable and unqualified of rendering a worthwhile opinion about somebody far more advanced than myself.
Warnock was erudite, measured, and thoughtful.
And Walker? I … I just can’t. He’s a fucking train wreck. I simply can’t believe there’s even a runoff coming.
His, “supporters” don’t really support him. They just want him there to vote they way he’s told. They don’t care that he is functionally cognitively impaired. All the better. As the one lovely right wing talking head remarked, she didn’t care if he aborted a nest full of endangered baby eagles she just wanted control of the Senate. She didn’t get that, but they still want as little of an advantage as possible for the Democrats. I think they’d boost someone in a vegatative state to run if it was possible.
Some people will vote for anything as long as it calls itself a Republican, or at least not-a-Democrat.
You are describing a classic Dunning-Kruger effect.
All in all, Mr. Walker is out of his league. He is embarrassing himself and being used as a cat’s paw by others. While it is just to report on his activities while he is running for office, it seems wrong for him to be otherwise in the public eye. I feel more pity for the man than anything else.
Yeah. Good pickup on the Dunning-Kruger aspect – textbook. In the middle of the worst of COVID, I informally declared those two the ultimate winners of the pandemic.
I guess it’s some from Column A and some from Column B: they don’t know and they don’t care about Walker’s profound and innumerable deficiencies.
Sigh.
On a lighter note, it does remind me of this one minute clip from “Kentucky Fried Movie:”
Transcript from the YouTube video for those who don't get/prefer the linked content:
Well, don’t ordinary people have a right to a sub-mediocre person to represent them?
Senators can’t be all Bill Bradleys, ya know.
What a gift Senator Walker would be to the late night comics.
Roman Hruska, is that you?
You know, in the horrible event that Walker wins the run-off election, I think the late night comics should just lay off him. I honestly don’t think it’s very nice to mock the disabled.
That advert implies that Riley Gaines was denied her victory because she had to compete with a man.
Actually, no. She tied with Lia Thomas for 5th place. If Lia Thomas had been banned from the race, Riley Gaines would still have taken 5th place.
And her statement that Lia took an award that belonged to a woman is also misleading. Lia came first in a different women-only race. If Lia had been banned, then a female from birth would have won, but it wouldn’t have been Riley Gaines.
She didn’t lose because of unfair competition. She lost because she isn’t good enough to win. Some people are born to be champions. Riley Gaines is born to be 5th.
Yes, I think Walker’s lack of intellect is what allows him to be acceptable to Republican voters. Intelligent black people are prone to radical ideas of racial empowerment to overcome structural oppression. Walker meanwhile reminds them of those loveably harmless comedy relief blacks of their childhood,
I remember some decades back there was an Austrian downhill racer who consistently came in fourth in international competition. The medal winners would change but there he always was, not quite on the podium. He got the nickname “Franz IV.”
Someone needs to give Herschel the " Person Woman Man Camera Tv" test. I have my doubts he could pass it as bigly as Trump did. The reference would probably go right over his head.
