Herschel Walker (need I say more?)

Herschel Walker is on the case!

Tooning Out the News has done it again. After getting Rudy Giuliani on the phone–twice–to troll him about various controversies at the height of the 2020 presidential election, the Stephen Colbert-produced Comedy Central show managed to ensnare Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker this week, less than a month before the midterms.
In the wake of Walker brandishing a seemingly fake police badge during a debate this week, the show’s fake news anchor James Smartwood – voiced by creator R.J. Fried – decided to report that his laptop had been stolen from his car the night before and call the “police” during the broadcast…

Anybody surprised?

Attorney Gloria Allred announced that she is holding a press conference Wednesday with another woman who says she was in a relationship with Herschel Walker and that he helped her have abortion…

He should get an honorary OB/GYN badge.

That Walker may still make it and Fetterman may still fail makes some wonder if the whole “letting the people decide” thing really is all it’s cracked up to be.

Did you mean to say “DIShonorary”?

Badges? I ain’t got no badges. I don’t need no steenkin’ badges!

You, maybe not, but the running back dude does have a badge, and it is likely quite whiffy.

I’ve heard some very ugly mutterings that seem to indicate a pivot on the whole abortion issue from a certain group of white males in various dark corners both IRL and online.

I’m not saying this is anything like an intentional pivot, but more the depths some individuals on the Republican (more Qpublican) side will sink too in order to excuse their own side.

Since I feel honestly slightly skeevy just typing it, I’ll put it in blur-vision if you don’t want to see it.

“He shouldn’t have paid for those ladies to have an abortion. And even so, they made the choice, the sin is on their hands. But at least it proves he’s a MAN - not one of those wishy washy homosexuals!” - NOTE - disgusting and predictable slur in original I refuse to repeat even in blur-vision.

I’m not at all surprised nor particularly concerned by this pivot. Anyone who is at all convinced by this claim has already made up their mind to vote for him. As you say this is just an excuse to go on believing the things that they were going to believe anyway. Or as another poster in another thread (that I’m too lazy to look up ) said about a different excuse.

“Its just a talking point that right wingers can post on facebook to convince themselves that they won the argument.”

Nah, for as many women as he has helped get abortions, he should get some sort of recognition.

Herschel Walker is a Feminist!

He can be one of the “elected officials” Oz was talking about in the debate.

Maybe even a volume discount.

Is his apparent stupidity related to football trauma?

He has a lot of money. There is extensive historical evidence that wealth correlates directly to reduced mental function.

I now live in Wisconsin. The good news is if Walker wins, Wisconsin no longer have the most stupid member of the Senate. Ron Johnson will be in second place.

The amount of money GQP PACs are throwing into this election is mind boggling. Johnson, Walker and Oz may all win because of it.

Not necessarily, though Kanye West is doing his best to prove the theory.

I wanted to quote Obama. I often use the same analogy but I go with “the surgeon who’s going to operate on your mother” instead

Obama: “Some of you may not remember, but Herschel Walker was a heck of a football player… does that make him the best person to represent you?.. let’s say you’re at the airport & you see Walker & you say, Hey, there’s Herschel, Heisman winner. Let’s have him fly the plane!”

Actually, that makes a lot of sense if the plane is an analogy for the country, as it certainly seems as though the desire among the fervent MAGA supporters is to have our country crash and burn.

Now I understand the support.

It’s an article of faith among many in this country that being successful in one thing automatically means that you can be successful in a different, unrelated field – particularly politics. And so many Trump supporters pointed to his (imaginary) success as a businessman as qualifying him for president. But voters are constantly doing this with entrepreneurs, athletes, entertainers, military officers, etc. Politics is maybe the one field of human endeavor where having served ably in the profession is seen as a demerit for advancement.
