Sorry to join in on the roast, but I have to second ETF, faithfool, and a few others: While I consider most of Brutus’s expressed political views to hail from the Neolithic, and cannot see where he finds ground for his allegiance to Der Shrubfuhrer, he is one of the few strong conservatives here with a self-deprecating sense of humor, who is willing to trade jibes good naturedly. That for me counts for a lot.
If we’re ever in the same town, Brutus, I want to buy you a beer – provided that there’s an agreement we don’t talk politics over it! 
Since Brutus generally does a good job defending himself, in his own way, he ceertainly doesn’t need my voice of support.
He has it, though.
Look, the conservatives on this board are, admittedly, an odd lot. We kind of like to be contrarian. If we didn’t like this, all of us would become Freepers and join that huge circle-jerk.
I think Brutus does a great job of challenging the Straight Dope CW, and I’d like to thank him for that.

Actually, I think he does a remarkably piss-poor job in that regard. Challenging someone takes a little more effort than calling a bunch of strangers ‘retards’, if you ask me.
As much as he has driven us up a wall sometimes, the board is a better place with him around. Our political differences take a back seat to the fact that we’re both dopers. I’d buy him a beer as well, with the same caveat as Poly.
I’ll Second that. Most (hell, all) of the other noteworthy conservative Dopers bring something to the table. A few facts, worthy debate, a good point well articulated.
Brutus, at his best, is only good for amusement. You do realize that he’s exactly what the most partisan and ignorant leftist imagines conservatives are like, right?
By conventional standards, sure.
