Hey Coldfire & Other Rush Fans...

There’s a pretty interesting interview with Geddy Lee in this week’s (12/15/00) Entertainment Weekly, on page 80. I’m not sure if you’re familiar with EW, but every now and then they run this feature called Ten Stupid Questions, where some smart-ass reporter asks his subject, uh, ten stupid questions. Geddy held his own pretty well, IMHO.

I’d transcribe the article for you, but I’m sure it’s copyrighted and the Mods wouldn’t be into that at all. Look it up on EW’s web site in a couple of weeks; it’ll probably be in the archives.

I like Kilborn’s 5 questions better. But Rush is Rush is Rush. They can do no wrong.

Except for this damn “hiatus.” It’s not haitus, it’s torture. Like the water drip or bamboo shoots under the fingernails. Play for me. Please! I’m begging you with every fiber of being within my soul of a person pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease go back on tour.

I’ll be better soon, I swear.

First, we’d need a new album, which is supposedly next year. After that, we’ll see if they go on tour. If they do, I swear to god NOTHING is keeping me from finally seeing them live.

Ditto what Falcon said.

I missed them on their last tour (was that in '94? Damn, it’s been a while) and I’ve been kicking myself ever since.

I got into Rush 3 months after they completed their Roll the Bones tour in 1991/1992. That was the last European tour they did.

Pleeeeeeaaaaaaase come back to Europe, lads. And make it a kick-ass album. I know you still can. Counterparts surprised even the critics. Surprise us some more.

Actually the last tour was in 96-97 for “Test for Echo”. (U.S., at least; I don’t know if there were overseas dates for that one.) I am proud to say that our party overcame both a tire blowout on the freeway (the benevolent gods of Rush fans cloaked us in their protection as we limped back home for a backup vehicle) and a subsequent flooded underpass from which all traffic was being diverted, yet through which we were miraculously allowed to pass, to make it to the show, missing only the opening number (bad, but not nearly as bad as it could have been). Sympathy to all who missed it, as it was indeed an incredible and fabulous show. It was somewhere in the neighborhood of the 17th time I’ve seen them - hard to keep track exactly, as I saw a couple of tours at more than one stop. (My first was p/g, which also kicked huge amounts of ass!) Coldy, you’ve never seen them?? Oh, are you in for a treat!!! Sorry that you folks “over there” are so often shortchanged in that department. Like everyone else, I wait with bated breath for the new album and the tour that will surely follow.

This was not meant to be a “Rush worship” thread, so I will desist, but thanks to rastafan for the steer.

Also, I read, TWO DAYS LATE, that Geddy did a Rockline interview on November 29th. ARRRRGGHH! Don’t suppose anyone here taped it? Incentives of your choice would be offered to procure a copy.

P.S. Also read that Neil recently remarried; best wishes to Mr. & Mrs. P.

It’ll be good to have a new album out. (Heck, I almost wrote ‘LP’. God I feel old today)

I’ve seen them for every tour since Signals (attending every show that was close to where I was, 15th row in Columbia, MD and 8th row in Moline, IL) and they never fail to deliver. I know they can still bring it. Heck, I have about 100 shows on tape to prove it.
