This here is a haven, a haven I say. For those who love, adore, worship the Monkees, night and day.
I’m SO happy. The Rave episode on Boy Meets World? Well we have Disney Channel for the weekend and I just got back from watching the episode. (Again…the last time i saw it was a few years ago.) Pretty weird coincidence, but maybe its in honor of Davy and Mike’s birthday.
They played “My Girl” for Cory and Eric’s parents, and then they played “Not Fade Away.” And at the end, the manager from the Partridge Family came up to them, and he was like “You guys could be bigger than the Beatles!” Anyway…I’m not that huge a fan…am I?
I’m a Monkees fan from the original days… I’ve got 5 albums - the first 2 aren’t even stereo because that cost extra!! When they did the TV show in '96, I got my daughter hooked. She now has all their recordings on CD, plus many eps of the TV show, and the vid of Head. I’m so proud!!
God. Fairychatmom, i wish my parents were that supportive. They lampoon the Monkees, and don’t encourage my addiction to them at all. They’d probably laugh their balls off if I suggested buying Monkee tapes.
Msrobyn, i hear ya! Davy does that to me too. (I love him, I really do!)
I’m quite obsessive too. I had my brother tape half of that boy meets world episode, just so I could have three of the Monkees on tape. Wish i had the whole thing though.
I HAVE to see Head, too…Sigh…better rent it. Do u think a normal (smalltown) Video Rental Shoppe will have it?
Anyone remember “The King of Zor…”? From one of the later albums while the original TV show was still on (or shortly thereafter). More mainsteam: Pleasant Valley Sunday.
Zoggie I feel your pain, my parents dont support my monkee habits but I did manage to buy the box set of episodes.
PlanMan that’s Zor and Zam, it’s on the birds the bees and the monkees, the tv version of it is on missing links three. Man I need to get a life (I can even name the episode!)
Anyone care to share what monkee merchandise and stuff they have? The prize of my collection (next to my signed copy of micky’s bio) is a record with the music for 33 1/3 all the books I’ve read say it was never made into a record because the tracks were lost, but I have it!!
Oh yeah and the writers of “Last train to clarcksville” (who’s names oddly excape me at 3 am :D) said they got it when they heard the very end of “paper back writer” by the beatles on the radio.
I’ve got the Cartoon Network on right now, and an episode of Scooby Doo just ended.
I hate Scooby Doo. But I left it on. I had to.
Because Davy Jones was in it.
He played himself, and he’s got this uncle with a castle, and the castle was going give the castle to some creepy guy or something like that, but Davy was trying to talk him out of it, and then the creepy guy decided to make like the place was haunted or something, and Scooby & Co. saved the day. I don’t know. I wasn’t paying that much attention. I was just morbidly fascinated with incredibly bad Davy animation.
It’s the only episode I’ve seen where Daphne didn’t pair off with Fred. They split up into two groups, of course, but one was Davy/Daphne/Velma, and the other was Fred/Shaggy/Scooby. Pretty wild.
That settles it. I’m buying a Monkees tape no matter what anyone says! ha. They sell them at amazon.com. $11.99 a tape. Two episodes per tape. I found the one that has Daydream Believers- I love that song!! I so totally need it to feed my Monkees fix.
Persephone, did you mean to post that to the Scooby Doo Debate?
Oh my god. On Friday night on AMC, at ten or ten thirty I believe, the movie “Head” will be coming on. For you Monkee fanatics who have that cable channel, watch it!!
The Monkees RULE!!! well… dunno if i’m THAT fanatical about them but, having grown up with the tv show as one of the factors that helped shape me into the mature, stable, and well adjusted young man that i am (HAH!), i feel a certain fondness for their music. Plus it makes ppl look at me funny when i drive down the road blaring Monkees songs with the windows rolled down. =)
No wait! My mistake, my mistake!! Its Saturday night, NOT Friday… you may wanna get your VCRs ready for it, if you’re going out to the disco or something Saturday night.
