Hey, I think a few of you all are in here!

Tasteless yes.Funny NO
Although I do see some intended humor in the subject line.

[sarcasm]I’m absolutely sure they were all asked, "wanna pose for ‘uglypeople.com?’ and they all cried, “YES!”[/sarcasm]

I don’t know where the site managers got those pictures, but I’m confident it wasn’t because they walked up to these people and offered to hold them up as objects of scorn and ridicule.

Too bad everybody that likes and/or supports this concept can’t have their pictures posted at “meanpeople.com.”

I’m offended by this site. Not joining the bandwagon, but some of those people resemble friends I’ve had.

This is reminding me of the philosophy of someone I and some of you know, who will remain nameless because s/he is already getting chewed out by countless others.

Some of these pictures are clearly the result of poor lighting or other conditions. Others are examples of physical deformities or unfortunate circumstances.

Those of you who judge people based on these kind of things . . . God have mercy on your soul.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Slight hijack here.

My son who is special needs is attending a summer camp and yesterday was swim day. We were at the pool which was built for people with disabilities but welcomes all people.

As my son’s group got off the buses and came into the rec centre, there was a group of, as much as I hate this fucking word “normal” teens milling about. (Some of the kids in my son’s daycamp are very severely disabled, some have facial deformities, some speak funny, some walk oddly.)

When my son saw me, he got excited and came running over to hug me. He let out a squeal, said momma momma and began chattering. Yes, he doesn’t speak, so to someone who doesnt know him, it sounded like garble. These two teens immediately started to mimic him and continued to make fun of other kids from the group as they came into the centre.

I realize that kids will be kids and can be mean, but these guys were around 15 or 16 and should have known better.

Sometimes this is a very cruel world we live in solely because of people’s refusal to accept people are they are. Every person is a gift in one way or another, even those twits at the pool.

To anyone who thinks those people are funny or pathetic or ugly or any of that stuff:

Picture yourself like that. If you can honestly not be affected by knowing other people laugh when they see you, there’s something wrong.

And if you are affected by that, try not thinking it or laughing. It’s not funny. In some cases it is sad.

God loves each of us equally, no matter how ugly other people think we are. We’re created as such, too. Equal. Every one of us. Just because you may look better than some of those people doesn’t mean you are.

Sue, if I were you I woulda ripped those little fucks a coupla new assholes.

I’ll answer that for ya… taken directly from the site’s main page:

Ideally, I’d think people would send in the occasional “bad picture” of themselves… heck, I would imagine that some people purposefully staged horrible pictures (which would explain a lot of 'em). However, I know that some people can be mean and submit a picture of someone that they hate… and if this were the case, the controllers of the site take the picture down.

In short, this isn’t a “Let’s scour every resource we have and put together an online freak show for everyone to laugh at!” It’s “Hey, let’s have some fun!”

Chris, I definitely did do that, the worst way possible, I was very calm and in their faces and they were turfed from the centre. Mess with me if you want, but don’t ever dare to mess with my child, thats about the only thing that will turn me into a lunatic.

Just a little aside:
I realize that everyone is not good looking. Not everyone shops at the best stores, bathes every day, wears the best make up. Not all men are Harrison Ford or George Clooney. Not all women are Jewel or Cindy Crawford. People are born with cleft palates, facial and physical deformaties and other problems.

When I was babysitting for a little girl (about 11 at the time) who had been born almost literally without a face, the worst thing I’ve ever seen happened. Bear in mind, this child had been through about 20 facial surgeries- giving her the face she had- her eyes, nose and mouth are all deformed and her little cheeks bear the scars of those awful years of surgery.

So I’m at a public beach with her and we’re swimming and having a great time. Then the cruelest person I’ve ever met in my life approached me. He looked me straight in the face and (assuming incorrectly that I was her mom) said “Well, I guess she must have got her fathers looks!”. (The girl did not hear him, Thank God)

The saddest part of all was that he was trying to pick me up. That was his come-on line. I was shocked nearly speechless. I did manage to tell him that regardless of her problems she could never be as ugly as he was. I still don’t know if he understood what that meant. The whole incident shook my faith in humanity. So does this thread.

PS- the whole “I don’t think the pictures of handicapped people are funny- just the other ones” to me smacks of “I don’t hate everyone with AIDS- just the ones who deserve it”. Come on- have a little fucking humanity. I’m truely sickened.

Schmuck.

I would have put Wally’s putz symbol here, but it’s smiling and winking and I don’t think this topic deserves either.
