This is less a question specifically about Cecil’s column contents and more about the accompanying artwork by Slug and general newspaper standards . So I am placing it here. Mods please move if you deem appropriate.
Some of the Sug art is amusing and graphic, but I had never seen one quite this graphic (verbally) and was kind of surprised. Do most newspapers now have relaxed enough standards to allow this type of commentary nowdays? Surprised and curious.
Y’know, I was wondering if my gutter-brain wasn’t misinterpreting some clever play on words.
(Not that I have a clue as to what other word that might have been, but the monitor I’m currently using is less than stellar, and I suspected I was misreading it on the graphic.)
I came on the board with the sole purpose of bringing that up.
It seemed a little weird for Fuckin’ to be right there on the front page. Maybe Slug is raising hell cause Cecil didn’t give him a raise.
They sometimes provide alternate illustrations for papers to use if they think the original is too racy. IIRC previous ones had “a” or “b” added to the file name. I looked for them, but they don’t exist, at least under that name. In any case, it’d be easy for a sensitive paper to white-out or otherwise censor the word.
