Yeah, your imaginary god can totally kick their imaginary god’s butt!
(Can somebody please buy me a ticket out of Crazyville?)

If Dirk Gently wants support he needs to tell me who to support. He just rambled about muslims. I need names and adresses (the prime twat demands details )
If you calling the stupid bitch in front of you names was reason for bigotry, then we would all be guilty ( and Helen would have a letter in the mail). Fortunately calling someone names is not the same as blowing them up. No matter what side you are on.
Hah! You’re just pissed off because Lilith had bigger tits than you!
Please take off your rose-colored glasses and consider the repercussions of your words. We have gone in and destroyed any semblance of order in Iraq. A power vacuum now exists. We cannot pull out now. Did we learn nothing from Vietnam? Or from the Russians pulling out of Afghanistan?
If we withdraw our forces now, what do you think will become of the people who supported us? What will become of the new president who stepped up to the plate and took that job knowing he was literally putting his head on the plate? What will become of the thousands of innocent Muslims who decry and condemn the acts of these brutal men? Would you leave them to the mercy of brutal zealots?
Whether you agree with Bush’s decision to enter Iraq or not is a moot point. We did. I cannot believe that anyone can propose pulling out of that country now and sleep with a clear conscience.
First off, with regard to the number of muslims targeted, I would suggest that collaborators are generally more hated than invaders in any invasion scenario.
A different religion is what makes the present invaders completely unacceptable in this region . You don’t hear of much insurgency in muslim countries outside of Iraq, Afghanistan and Israel and India and the Phillipines. I don’t recall the Ottomans having much resistance to their occupation of Iraq either.
You can buy all the tickets you want but it won’t help. The train doesn’t stop here.
Am I the only one who hasn’t seen the video?
I will make this abundantly clear (sorry, I had to sleep sometime, folks, so a bit late re-entering the fray)…
…my rant was against Islamo-fascists and their interpretation of their religion. I chose to invoke Yahweh, Jehovah, Jews and infidels as intentionally provocative. I had hoped that, by pointing specifically to Islamo-fascists at the beginning to avoid having to be specific in each paragraph following.
As I read this OP, I think I am beginning to understand what Kyle and Stan were thinking when they watched Cartman trick Scott Tenorman into eating his parents. My response is similar to thier’s: I think I’ll do whatever I can to avoid pissing DirkGntly off.
In no uncertain terms, I told the Islamo-fascist freaks to step off, two years ago; however, they didn’t do so.
Sad to say Lisa, but letting them kill each other and sort it out might not be the worst case scenario. Our presence there is delaying an inevitable civil war. We can…
a) pull out now, let them slaughter each other, and hopefully move on to civlilty.
b) Wait 10 years, spend hundreds of billions, pull out, and then let them slaughter each other, and hopefully move on to civlilty.
These people don’t want democracy, and trying to shove it down their throats ain’t going to work.
Of course I thought we should have left SH in charge. Probably because I love him. Not that it would have avoided the current shitstorm or anything.
If you Google eugene armstrong video you’ll find it, although it’s not for the weak of heart or stomach.
Interestingly enough, I’ve had zero desire to watch any of these beheading videos. I think when the first one came out, a friend who saw it kept saying he wished he never had seen it.
<shrug>
I failed to find it. Could you email a link?
I didn’t watch this one; i just know where to find it. I saw the one with Nicholas Berg, and i have to agree with your friend. Real violence is so much more brutal and distressing than the stylized versions glamorized by Tarantino et al.
BTW Rune, i think the Board might frown on direct links to stuff like that.

Please. I’m not being sarcastic, but could you please point me to some decrying and condemning?
Do those who died get a vote?
This is the saddest thought of all. We have spent billions prosecuting this war. We have seen thousands of Iraqis die. We have created hundreds of widows and orphans back at home. We have turned life into hell in Iraq. And at the end of all this, having not found what we went in for, letting those left alive kill each other “might not be the worst case scenario”.
I curse those who hold life as worthless. I reserve my deepest damnation for the warmongers who brought us to this hellish, impossible situation.
As will I, especially the morning of Nov 3rd
