Worthy target, lame pitting. I give it a 3/10. Little to no effort or creativity. Even considering the source of this pitting, it doesn’t raise the score above a 3. This reads like you pounded this out while sitting on a toilet during a quick 5 minute bathroom break while at work.
Yeah but just about as much brainpower was expended composing this thread as there is in any of her ubiquitous pile -on or “Me too!” contributions (which in the case of our esteemed Pttsburgh Doper is a substantial chunk of the entire payload).
This is apropos to nothing but i have to ask you a question about your username. Given the fact that the letter “a” is right next to the letter “s” on the keyboard and the nsme “Nightshades” makes a lot more sense than “Nightshadea”, I’ve always suspected your username to be a typo of Nightshades that you simply never bothered to have corrected. Am i right?
Holy shit is this the truth. There is not a more vapid, non-contributing established member here at the Dope. SDMB has this reputation of being populated by the best and brightest minds out there. Fighting Ignorance is their trademark phrase after all. But that’s only a fraction of the full picture. It also attracts those who wish to hitch their wagons to this bastion of rationality intelligence, in order to be part of what they perceive as the smartypants in-group. They hope to be seen as “intelligent by association”. Guin is the fucking poster child for this type of Doper. And to ward off the predictable derision, no, i don’t consider myself one of either type of Doper. I came here under fairly unique circumstances and i just was looking for honest feedback from strangers re a very distressful personal experience i had recently gone thru. (I had a very rocky, tumultuous beginning here at the Dope and no one, including me, thought i would last long)

That wouldn’t be worse. Military worship leads people to excuse or even support some pretty awful things that real people really do. Shrugging off children dying of Cystic Fibrosis because “god has a plan” is one thing, defending the illegal invasion and occupation of countries and the torture of their citizens because how dare you smear Our Troops is another.
I like Jim Nightshade. He’s actually a pretty fun Doper and pretty harmless.

I wouldn’t be able to say I am familiar enough with either of their oeuvres to make any comment about these posters in particular, none are in the number that I have in my head as stand out impressive in either direction, or valuable, but in general I’d prefer the few more dissenting voices as long as they do so without being assholes and do so with honest arguments, preferably intelligent ones that either take some actual thought to respond to or even force me to question what I think I believe … Even the stupid contrarian arguments serve a function if only to stimulate review of what the actual facts are.
The post that this op Pitted? … that reminded me of when a past dog had an infection of his anal scent gland. Just disgusting. Fine if the deceased who had mental illness and had killed herself was the focus of Pit thread but not in that thread’s context. I’ll take mindless me-too pile-on posts over that odoriferous purulent discharge please. For my dog I’d deal with it.

Not taking a pot shot at you, speaking just for myself, and I completely agree with intent of your op, but um, that’s not how Pit threads work. The unavoidable risk that goes along with Pitting someone is the goddamned threat that it may or may not go as one wants it to go.
