Hey meryl streep, you are a play-actor, nothing more

He’d’a had MY vote. Ever see Repulsion? Incredible fuckin’ film.

Not surprisingly, an incredibly one dimensional and dimwitted viewpoint.

*I don’t put any faith in people who do this particular job. They spent much too much time learning to do this particular job and I’ll be damned if I listen to them on anything other than this particular job!
*

It’s “roles” not “rolls”. But she did learn to sing like Florence Foster Jenkins. Not many people could have pulled that off.

And who the hell are you, and why should anyone trust your opinion on any damn thing? We ALL have opinions that are outside our fields of specialty. Why not an actor, especially a renowned and intelligent one like Streep?

Hey, don’t be so hard on doorhinge, he’s nothing but a play-poster.

There’s another aspect to actors that yutzes like **door “play-actor” hinge **aren’t capable of grasping. This whole “Hollywood bubble” thing only goes so far. When an actor - a really talented, dedicated, exacting actor, like Streep - plays a role, they don’t just roll out of their limo onto the set and start bleating out whatever words are put in front of them. They do research. If Meryl Streep plays a metallurgy worker at a plutonium processing plant (Silkwood) or a gin swilling bar-fly (Ironweed) she has researched metallurgy workers and bar-flies - probably hung out with them to get a feel for the character she plays. That kind of research sinks in. By design.

The notion (floated in some thread or another) that Trump knows more about the working class is fucking laughable.

What’s laughable is Streep talking about vilified movie actors. Is she fucking kidding? They’re idolized everywhere they fucking go, pampered like royalty, their every utterance eagerly lapped up by a compliant media and treated as if they were words of wisdom from on high.

Because some people disagree with her and think she’s talking out of her asshole all of a sudden she feels vilified? What fucking planet is she living on because it sure ain’t this one.

Oh and referring to the Hollywood Foreign Press bunch as journalists was uproarious. Have you ever seen a list of these clowns? Journalists they’re not.

It sounds exactly like you are describing poor don the cons experiences as PE. Just sub in donnie for Meryl and reality tv star for movie actor. Try it. It’s fun. Are you channeling?

You appear to be confused about the timeline of events. Streep brought up the issue of actors being vilified in the current political climate at the start of her GG speech. Not as a response to people subsequently disagreeing with her GG speech.

**aldiboronti **has been watching too many movies.

An actor’s life isn’t a constant red-carpet. They don’t all eat caviar for breakfast served on fresh abalone shells served by eunuchs. And if he doesn’t think actors get vilified then he’s never read anything about Sean Penn or Lena Dunham or Amy Schumer or a hundred others who get shat on daily. Fuck, he’s doing it right now and I’m helping him.

Of course it isn’t. 90% of them are out of work most of the time. But the stars like Streep aren’t and if you believe her and her buddies are horny-handed sons of toil then I’m afraid you’re the one who’s been spending too much time at the multiplex.

Another thing I find interesting about this whole anti-Streep flapdoodle is that Streep herself specifically said she was “picking up on” the issues raised by Hugh Laurie in his own speech earlier in the ceremony. Yet nobody howling about the impertinence or inappropriateness of Meryl Streep daring to criticize Trump and Trumpism seems to have any objections at all to similar criticisms made by Laurie (who’s not only a Hollywood actor but a foreign immigrant, what’s more! ).

It’s as if Laurie has something that Streep doesn’t have, which automatically grants him perceived legitimacy in expressing opinions on political matters, despite being nothing but an entertainment celebrity. I wonder what that something could be.

Whatever it is, evidently the Dixie Chicks didn’t have it either, although Chuck Norris and Ted Nugent do. Neither does Beyonce. Hmm.

Maybe Streep should ask Laurie if she can borrow whatever it is that allows him to express political opinions without being told that he has no business doing so because he’s just an entertainer.

The only reason Streep caught more flak is that she is the bigger star. Simple as that. (And BTW I think she’s an excellent actress and Trump was an idiot for denying it.)

No, no. That’s fine. Ignore everything I said about her being diligent in her research and having it sink in and … oh, I don’t know … being a world-acclaimed actor that might actually have insight on the human condition and continue your bullshit about how she makes her butler wipe her ass for her or something.

She’s worked a hell of a lot harder to get where she is in this world than Donald Trump ever did.

You are seeing what you want to see,I took the time to make a screen capture of the same gesture used on different occasions when he was talking about two different people; obviously it’s a stock gesture he makes, the people wanting to believe he was specifically mocking the disability of the reporter are just letting their biases dictate their perception of reality.

This is still a board meant to fight ignorance, right? Because reinterpreting reality to push narratives doesn’t jibe with that.

If that’s a stock gesture that he makes I’d say impeach right now. Then we don’t have to argue the merits of everything else. What would be the point?

Problem solved. Just thank DD

Let’s say I often say to people I disagree with, “You are a retard.”

Then I meet someone with a mental disability and say to them, “How’s it goin’, retard?”

In your opinion, have I not mocked this person for his mental disability on the basis that I use that slur so often?

You strawmanned your own flawed analogy. :smack:

How do you figure?

Next time, use smaller words so you can write a post that makes sense, retard.
