Where is the follow up to those numerous allegations of sexual assault? Were those simply fake news stories that were not based on anything other than a Hillary worshippers allegation?
Truck drivers are trained to drive trucks. Whenever you see one of them on the road, they’re hauling several tons of cargo across state lines, even when they’re driving a Smart Car to the grocery store.
Surgeons are trained to do surgeries. Whenever you see one holding a knife, he’s performing an appendectomy, even when he’s cutting some chicken Parmigiana at Olive Garden.

doorhinge** is a imbecilic troll. Whenever you see him post something… okay, this one’s a bad example.
I’ve heard that Roman Polanski wanted to document his trials and tribulations. It was to be called - Close Encounters of the Third Grade.
You are childish. You throw in ‘play’ in a failed attempt to make her seem so. I know what they do for a living. She is very accomplished and extremely well paid. She is a professional in a difficult profession. Why would her profession make her any less learned in any issue?
Its an ad hominem, and in debate, it means you got nothin’. You have a problem with she said, talk about that. Leave this ‘play actor’ bullshit where it belongs.
This is one reason why liberals, especially Hollywood liberals, shouldn’t defend or praise Polanski (the better reason, of course, is that it’s morally wrong). It’s not logical that making a mistake (defending a rapist) invalidates the good things people might say or do, but it is an effective rhetorical distraction technique to point out the hypocrisy.
Polanski is a rapist who shouldn’t be defended or praised. Streep’s criticism of Trump was thoughtful and reasonable, for the most part (the attacks on football and MMA were pointless and obnoxious, IMO). Streep shouldn’t have applauded Polanski in the past, especially since it makes it harder to have good points, like the ones she made in her acceptance speech, hit home with those who might be political allies.
The difference is exactly what it is intended to be; “play actors” is a disparaging way to say actor. A not so subtle way to disrespect the acting profession in general, and Ms. Streep in particular.
What it actually shows is that what breaks Meryl’s heart depends largely on the politics involved, and not the suffering or harmful effect it has on the victim as she would have us believe.
Forgetting to bring your lunch to work is a mistake. Defending a child rapist is not.
Yeah. Stop disparaging people that defend child rapists. They are ACTORS! They deserve nothing but love and respect from everyone. Especially actors that defend child rapists.
I think it’s wrong – a mistake in moral judgment. YMMV.
Trump appears to have successfully intimidated and threatened the accusers (and in many cases, there’s no action that the victims of assaults that occurred years or decades ago could actually have taken against him anyway).
From this article:
Fortunately for Polanski’s victim in 1977, Polanski didn’t have the wealth, influence or ruthlessness to intimidate her into silence or denial. Trump has a lot more leeway in those areas.

Were those simply fake news stories
[/QUOTE]
No, it’s highly unlikely that they were fake, even though in most cases there’s no proof other than the unsupported word of the victim that assault occurred. Likewise, there’s no proof other than the unsupported word of Polanski’s victim that what happened between them was anything other than consensual statutory rape. (Remember, statutory rape is the only charge that Polanski was actually convicted of.)
Anyone who asserts positively that Polanski non-consensually assaulted his victim based on the victim’s unsubstantiated claim, while refusing to accept that Trump non-consensually assaulted his victims based on those victims’ unsubstantiated claims, is a far more blatant hypocrite than Meryl Streep is.
But as I said, at least it’s nice to see Trump supporters suddenly remembering that sexual assault is a crime that should be taken seriously.
How is applauding Roman Polanski’s winning an award for his professional achievements defending his crime? That seems a stretch. Not to mention it is totally irrelevant to the discussion.

. . . I don’t put a lot of faith in the words of play actors. They have spent too much time learning to convince others that they are someone other than who they are. Personally, I don’t trust play actors to do anything other than to act in plays, movies, and commercials. YMMV.

Are you from the town in Footloose that allowed dancin’? :dubious:![]()
outlawed :smack:
Does that also apply to this play actor? To be clear, I’m referring to the less intelligent looking one on the right. Many idiots such as yourself thought that this particular play actor was worthy of being elected President of the US. Despite his making a complete ass of himself through delusional bloviation.
This is, in fact, somewhat like the reality-show moron who was elected president by fellow low-information morons in 2016.
Great. doorhinge has a new phrase that he can insert into every fucking post.
So Starving Artist is now suddenly opposed to child rape? I’ve got a paper towel tube that says he’s a hypocrite.
Something had to replace Ol’ Hillary’s State Department, after all.
This is the same country where the Senate Majority Leader blamed Obama for not stopping their stupidity after they overrode his veto. Any commentary on the subject or self-reflection for the causes of their injuries is utterly impossible.
Your own fucking ass? You know, I don’t remember you being an idiot, an asshole and a fucking Nazi before Trump won the EC. Of course, you’re only one Doper who was revealed as a Nazi asshole by the election, so don’t think you’re special.
Who’s the poor child actress who would have been given the career-killing role of playing you?
Roman Polanski is President-Elect now?
