I don’t recall ever exchanging replies with you before, but if so it must have been very infrequently. You seem to think that you know me. I was searching for some of my old posts and I came across this post. I am not sure what all this is about and I would like to clear it up.

I think that “syntax” means how you string your words together to convey ideas. I believe that I was using the term correctly. I admit that my own syntax is not great, but it is better than my spelling, which in turn is better than my punctuation.

Racism is 1 of the axes that I grind but I hardly think that it is the root of all evil. MC’s OP bugged me. I decided to give him/her the benefit of the doubt by assuming that the problem was in how the post was worded rather than assume bigotry. This was the reason for the use of “syntax” in my post.

My point there was that I do not wear moccasins and that the wording of the OP could be deemed offensive. Those were the 2 points that my short post made. Perhaps it was not clear enough for you. My purpose in the thread was to post my opinion. You might notice that the thread is in the IMHO forum. IMHO is a forum for requesting and posting opinions.

The Pit is a forum for ranting, bitching, and flaming. If you wish to flame me then please do so in the proper arena. Had you started a “2sense is a jagoff” thread then we could have taken care of this last month. Instead you accused me of being a poster who posts and runs ( the nicest thing you accused me of ) and when I didn’t reply this left the impression that you were correct. I do not appreciate that at all.

I do use the term “nigger” because I dislike the euphemisization of the term. But I do not go around refering to people here, or anywhere else, with this term. If you can find some threads where I am doing this I will happily kiss your ass and go away. I do not know what it is that has caused this venom but please stop spreading lies about me right now. Perhaps if you took a little time to read my posts and then think about them they wouldn’t seem so vague to you. And no, I have no idea what your ethnicity is and I don’t care.

Basically I am confused by your little diatribe. I didn’t find your post to be fair in any way. And BTW - I live in Pittsburgh so it is now 5:15 in the morning. I tried to sleep but couldn’t until I posted this. This probably will give you a good laugh.

What is your deal?

Byz: do me, your “unca wolfie”, a favor. Before you hit “reply”, and flame this guy into the netherworld- STOP. read it again. Then go read some other posts, and do a reply or 2. Then come back, after the 1st impulse is gone, then re-read it. Think twice before replying. I am not saying all his points are correct, but he is rational and resonable.

  1. 2sense, you’re way, way too touchy vis-a-vis the word “Indian”. FWIW, IMO MC used the word “Indian” in a completely non-offensive manner. IMO, the wording of the OP could NOT be deemed offensive. Lighten up, willya?

Would you explain this please? I can’t think of any instance in which either this word OR a euphemisim would be appropriate.

  1. My concern was not about the term “indian”. I don’t use it much but I think that you are right that the word is not offensive in all situations. In fact, I rarely find it pejorative. My concern for MC’s syntax was that how s/he contrasted blacks and whites might be misconstrued.

I felt that this might be taken as an insinuation that black guys can be expected to do foolish things but it was surprising to see whites do the same.

  1. Obviously I disagree. But since you also misunderstood my post, I am now concerned that Byzantine was right that my post was too vague. I don’t see how the lies she posted about me calling people niggers could be considered fair.

  2. Yes, the offending post old. This pisses me off. Had she started a thread in the proper forum for rants I would have seen it and people wouldn’t have been reading her unchallenged attack for the last month.
    As I stated, I just now read it so I couldn’t have brought it up earlier.

It does, actually. You mean when discussing the WORD nigger you use the word itself instead of the euphemism N-word. I was under the impression you thought other equally offensive racial slurs were “euphemisms.”

People haven’t been “reading her unchallenged attack for a month.” A thread as old as that must’ve been way, way back in the Any Date drawer of the file cabinet, covered with dust and cobwebs. What, were you stuck at work all afternoon with nothing to do but poke around in there?

And you know Byz, she rants anywhere, anytime. Why expect her to take it to the Pit, and it’s such a teeny rant, too (for her, at least)? I think you should chill.

Look, I really don’t think the OP in that thread was at all racist. Now, I realize that you were providing some room for air in your statement, i.e. you said it could be construed as racist, you didn’t state that it definitely was. However, “racist” is not an accusation to be tossed around lightly. IMO, that’s possibly one of the worst things you can say about a person, so you should be extremely careful about making that kind of statement. So I don’t think Byz was wrong to call you out on it. Granted, she could’ve been a bit more nice about it, but she definitely had a point.

That said, I second Daniel’s request. Byz, go easy on him.

While I am still holding onto the hope that you are simply taking Danielinthewolvesden’s advice very seriously, I am bit disappointed, Byzantine.

I have enjoyed your posts. I have chuckled more than once reading your witty flambés of some dolt. I would like to continue to do so.
I am looking to clear this up. I don’t think that this thread has been harsh by Pit standards.

If you made a mistake, OK. Everyone does now and then. Not everyone has the ovaries to admit it. I hope that you are not 1 of those people. If you swallow your pride and admit that you erred then no apology would be necessary.

If you actually believe the things that you wrote then why don’t you post an explanation here?
Again it need not get ugly. I can take criticism. My problem was with the way that you went about it. And also that I do not believe it is true, of course. Perhaps you could show me where I was wrong. I would want examples though.

You see, I was going to wait for about a month and get back to you so you would know what it’s like. But I guess I’m held to a “higher” standard. Okay, fine. I can deal with that. It’s happened to me three times before but was cleared up rather quickly by the other poster being on the ball.

No, it didn’t. You could have approached me in a lot of different ways. You basically chose the “attack” mode and I don’t think it’s funny at all. You really could have just said, “hey, what’s up?” and I would have promptly apologized. I’ve done it before and I don’t feel any shame about doing so. However, I have a hard time apologizing to someone who demands an explanation and then proceeds to subtly put me down in the process.

As Duck Duck Goose pointed out, I do have a habit of ranting when the problem comes up. I temper my rants by keeping in mind the forum I’m in and I make a point of refraining from anything that will get it kicked or my own ass censored. I’ve never been called on it probably because I follow the rules on this. I didn’t cuss or damn your progeny to hell.

If I started a Pit thread for each complaint I wanted to post, the Pit would rapidly become the “what’s up Byzantine’s ass this day” forum. And if you didn’t see my rant there how the hell were you going to see one here? Do you just come in everyday and look for your name?

And please, do not blame me for the fact that you don’t go back and look at threads that you’ve posted to until almost a month later. I think you are full of shit. I think you saw it and just sat on it until you had enough balls to bring it up.

How is it my fault that you just now noticed this? And really, you think it’s been sitting there for a month and everyone had been pouring over it? That particular thread had less than 30 views until YOU brought it up. If anyone made a big deal about it and gave you a “bad” name, it’s you, not me.

Frankly? I think you wanted everyone to rush in and defend you and no one did. Suck it up and deal. And in the future try to keep track of your own shit. It’s not my job to do it for you.

Less that sound harsh, I really do apologize for the initial rant but you’ve basically told me to “swallow (my) pride and admit that (I) erred” Yes, I fucked up. For that I’m really sorry.
