Thanks, Splanky. Yup, I’m from Baltimore. It really isn’t a bad board as far as boards go. You can pick up a lot of local info there, and most of the people are great. They just don’t moderate it enough. They don’t even have a “report this post to a moderator” link! The only way anyone knows there’s trouble is if someone emails Talk Admin. It’s a mess.
There must be some Sunspotters here though, because that’s how I heard about it. Someone posted a link.
This is, by far, a much better board. But, you ought to check out the Sun’s board sometime if you’re from the area (www.sunspot.net). Just be warned that as soon as you show up, someone may accuse you of being another poster. Sometimes they are, and sometimes they aren’t, but I wouldn’t greet someone that way!
The forum I was on the most was called “Open Mike”. There is a “Locals” and “Nationals” also that are very popular. People from everywhere post there, it just gets nasty.

Word of advice: Explore everywhere, because the whole place has stuff to offer. Great Debates, for example, can be intimidating at first, but I’ve learned more in four years there than I did in twelve years of public education and five years in college.
You might also try looking around for one of the “great Dope threads” collections. Set aside half a day, minimum. And take the phone off the hook.
I’m still waiting for this. Though somebody did breathe warm on me once.

Welcome to the boards, stellar7. I think you’ll get along just wonderful here. I only wish I would have started out on these boards the same way you did, on the right track. I think my first post was some dumb question that got locked because it was in the wrong forum or something.
Cervaise - Thanks to an even Older Oldtimer! I appreciate the tips. I can see now I’m going to be in BIG trouble here… I’m in the process of sorting through years of stuff in anticipation of selling my house and it’s going to be really tough to stay away from here. I can see that now.
Opal - I think your prize was showing everyone after you the ropes - and garnering their respect. That fact wasn’t hard to observe.

I think I was pitted once, back in the last milleneum. Possibly the old boards. I think It was over women and shoe obsession. (Which I am and have.)

Some of the funniest people on the web are here and just looking for things to mock. What we lack in having a life we make up for in spades in blatant sarcasm.
