Hi-ho, hi-ho, it's back to work we go – a miserable MMP

Bah! Just got to work after my morning began with a visit to the eye A&E department with another ulcer. This time it was such a big one the nurse didn’t even need to put dye in my eye to see it. On the plus side, it meant I got categorised from triage as an urgent case and got seen pretty much straight away so I was out and on my way to work within an hour.

I have to put drops in my eye four times a day for the next two weeks, and I need to go back to the horsepistol for a follow-up next Tuesday. Even bigger bonus is that the only appointment they have is for early afternoon which means I have to leave work at lunchtime and it won’t really be worth me coming back afterwards. And it’s all on the company’s time!

Kai, sorry to hear you’re feeling down, it can be difficult when you’re so short of time for yourself. On the other hand, if you’re offering pumpkin pie cake then you’re going to be very popular!

thank you for a giggle this morning! Happy Firday, everyone.

No claases on der Firday? Bork bork bork!

Oh hey, that’s right, it’s Friday. Woo! God my coffee, breakfast is et (scrambled eggs on toast) and being payday I treated myself to a deli-made pair of stuffed peppers for lunch.

Yesterday’s considerable but short-lived snowfall turned to drizzle, which is still trying to hang around, but is more or less dissipating now, thankfully. Once it’s gone it ought to be a half decent day. The phones may even cut me some slack to ease me into the weekend.

Oh! Silly me, I quoted this post quite by accident…

The REASON I posted those (beside making sure my flickr-fu worked) was to show you–I’m NOT wearing makeup (well, some mascara). That is not to boast about my so called looks, but because we were talking about makeup at some point… I don’t have any pics of me with a lot of makeup-maybe my wedding pic. Also, you all are only seeing the good pics of me–and that’s all you’ll ever see. Heh.

Ah, so. Will try once am home. Vielen Dank.

(((kai)))

And we need the recipe, too.

Up, dressed, about to be caffeinated, and trying to figure out the most logical order to get everything done today.

I am in no way even going to attempt to read and catch up, so everyone consider themselves to have received the appropriate accolades, condolences, encouragement or what have you.

Haze, don’t listen to them - school nights are perfectly acceptable occasions for some drunkenness once in a while.

It would be so much fun to have a MMP sometime with baby/childhood pics and a fairly recent pic of everyone. I always enjoy putting a face to a name.

I’m home again today, need to work on some craft projects for the craft fair. I took a bunch of pictures earlier in the week of things that I have done and ready, but I still don’t have them cropped and uploaded to my blog yet. I really should do that.

I’m going to finish going through my email, breakfast, shower, and then get working on stuff.

LiLi, can we see what stroller you got? I don’t have kids of my own and love looking and buying baby stuff. I guess that why I spoil the little ones that I know.

Oh, lord. Here it is. I had a pretty comical argument with my step-MIL. She came over, asked what I wanted in a stroller, I told her (high enough bar for Mr. Lissar, really lightweight and folds easily etc.), and she asked me if about the one I’d said I liked.

I told her the cheaper one was $950, and she said, “We’re not going to get you the cheaper one. We’re getting you the one you want. Don’t be ridiculous. They sell them in that shop across the road, right?”
I sputtered, and said, “We can go look for a knockoff or something that isn’t so retardedly expensive…”

And she said, “No. Here, put your coat on. We’ve already discussed it, and we’re getting you the one you want.”

And so now I have a bugaboo cameleon (kids’ stuff has such cutesy names) in beige and red ordered. Gahh. Here’s what it comes with. You can buy car seat adapters. I’m afraid to ask how much they cost. I think I’ll do without.

If you love buying kids’ stuff, I should totally get you to do it and send me the bill. It’s giving me panic attacks, blurred vision, and money guilt.

Morning, all. I’m up and caffeinating and need to get my ass in gear; I ran out of steam last night and didn’t do as much work as I should have before I gave up and went to bed.

How’s your head feeling, Haze?

(Shoot, the smilies don’t grow with the text!)

Those links both lead just to the bugaboo home page, LiLi. :frowning: But you have the cameleon (Urgh! They misspelled “chameleon”!)? Cool! What does it come with, since the link doesn’t go to that part of the page? Stupid fancy websites. It looks absolutely amazing, though!! Get a fancy bike lock for any time you leave it – seriously, it looks like you’d need to!

I got nuttin’ else this morning except a need for more caffeine. Urgh.

Lili, don’t feel guilty about it, besides it’s not like you begged for it, and I bet it makes them happy to be able to give you really want. Enjoy it. I’m very happy you got the one that you wanted! It’s adorable, and I bet looks even better in red and beige.

One of my friends living in Florida has a bugaboo stroller and she adores it. She happened to be driving by a thrift store and seen it sitting outside with a price tag of $100 on it and she snapped it up. I told her she got an absolute steal on it. She uses it tons too and says it’s the best money she has ever spent, and I’m sure you will love yours as well.

Oh, and it looks like the car seat adapters are only $45, according to this website.

I’ve managed to eat and start making bread. I might also bake something today. I think chocolate chip cookies or a pie of some sort sounds good. Plus I learned how to make a supposedly really good pie crust at church last night. I’m curious to see how the recipe turns out. I’m thinking pie it is. We will see.

Bother the link. It comes with a bassinett, an adaptable seat, rain cover, maintenance kit, underseat bag, and a bunch of other stuff. The seats and the warranty are the most important things. And it has big tires, which is good, because a lot of people don’t shovel around here, and Nat’s supposed to be born in early January. Lots of snow.

Our area has thousands of them. We’re in Yuppieville. I won’t worry too much about stealing here, but it might make me nervous when I’m in a less wealthy area. I am seriously thinking about duct-taping parts of the handles or scuffing it up a bit. If it’s less pretty, it’s less likely to be stolen.

Second load of laundry in, kitchen slightly tidier and ready for second onslaught of bread baking, and I’ll clear the table soon.
Is it naptime yet?

YAY!!! I am thrilled. Our HD DVD drive arrived today. We ordered it from Amazon and it wouldn’t play. Hubby called xbox support since it was for the 360, and we were told to send it in. We did so, have delivery confirmation that it was received on September 18. We still have not gotten it back, and I’ve been calling. We have received 2 xbox360 boxes to send out console in, which makes no sense. Hubby got frustrated with dealing with them and it was left to me. I got frustrated being told the exact same thing each time with a supervisor (Issue will be escalated and they will personally call be back in 48 hours, We received ZERO calls back, they had both my home and cell numbers) I finally threatened to contact the better business bureau if we did not get our HD DVD drive by November 18, which would have meant they would have had it two months.

Today just after getting out of the shower, there was a knock on the door. I yell, just wait a minute, toss a robe on and peek out the door and it’s the UPS driver, delivering our HD DVD drive. I’m so excited. I think I embarrassed the young driver by answering the door in my robe, but oh well, it needed to be signed for.

Yes! Happy Firday to all!!! (Thanks for that one, haze.)

I am at an age where less makeup is better…a little matt shadow, mascara, a bit of foundation to blend the skin tone and a touch of blush. Oh, and because my lips are disappearing, I have to wear lipstick. Yuck!

Baby pics would be fun but back when I was a baby, all the pics were on the cave walls.

I would love the punkin cake recipe, too, kai.

Who’s up for next week?

Tupug

I believe the term normally used 'round these here parts is: “Quoted for truth”

Don’t believe you that there are bad pictures. Cite? :stuck_out_tongue:

Pugs – I’m on for Monday. Which on the one hand, means it will be up bright and early for you folks. OTOH, it means a second straight week of depressing OPs. Oh well.

McUne – YAY!! for getting the drive back, at last. Did you try it out and see it’s working? **Gives **McUne a happy hug; takes advantage of the situation for a quick grope

**BooFae **-- what’s it with your eyes acting up? Good thoughts emanating from the Holy Land  Eye problems are scary!

Isn’t it Special One’s turn next week? That’s what my few remaining functioning brain cells are suggesting, anyway.

Can this Firday be over quickly, please? With my work all magically done by house elves in the process?

I am looking forward to it, lunch!

Well then, volunteer to start one yourself - DUH!!! :stuck_out_tongue: Heck, that’s an MMP that pretty much writes itself. Unless you don’t have representative pics of yourself to upload…

I’m home early, and I was hoping to spend some time in my studio, but that ain’t gonna happen. **FCD ** called me from work an hour or so ago - his car had a catastrophic ($$$$$$$) failure as he was driving some folks to a meeting. He’s going to have to get it towed to the nearby VW dealer, and I’ve got to drive all the way up there to pick him up. It’s a 90 minute drive, which means I can’t afford to get all messy. There is some underglazing I can do, but I wanted to do the messy work. Guess that’ll have to be saved for the weekend. Drat.

**snowbunny ** - Ain’t you been learned no manners? When one of your elders tells you it’s freekin’ cold out, then dammit, it’s freekin’ cold! I’m’a tell yer mama on you! Today is just miserable cold - not getting out of the 40s, overcast, drizzly, just plain miserable. I really should bring in some firewood and clean out the fireplace insert. It’ll be a good night for a fire.

Reservations made for dinner with my buds tomorrow night. I’m going to smack the one who insisted we eat there because it’s allegedly cheaper than the other place I suggested. The prices for lunch are quite similar, but dinner at this place looks to be higher. I hope they still serve sammiches in the evening. Oh, and they tack 18% on for groups of 5 or more. We’ll have six. And they don’t do separate checks. Pain in the posterior, I’m tellin’ ya!

And that’s all for now. **FCD ** just called and I need to go meet him at Darcars in College Park. It’s Mapquest time. Laterz, all!

MWAH!!

Lunch-, I didn’t get the drive out and check it. I did open the box to make sure that was in it though. I don’t dare take it out incase it doesn’t work…I don’t want it blamed on me!!! Speaking of you taking advantage, can I have the “Lunch Special” please.

Mooooom, I do have the pics that I could post…maybe I will have to do that unless someone else wants to take the lead. Oh, and here, have some chocolate.

One “Noon Special”, coming right up!

<snerk>he said “coming!” <snerk>

SNOW!!

It snowed here for just a couple minutes this morning. The big, puffy, pretty sort of snow that makes you want to go outside to catch snowflakes on your tongue. I love snow. I just don’t love all the weeks and weeks of cold without snow. If it’s going to be cold, I want my snow, dammit!

Glad to see you pop in, kai. I know the good crazy thing and how it does wear you down after a while. Sorry to hear about people leaving though. That’s always sad. But I think it’s far easier to keep in touch now with the internet and email than ever before.

I have so much that I SHOULD be doing at work right now. And I so don’t want to do any of it. Ugh.
