Underdog (Superpower through drugs!)
Rocky and Bullwinkle
Gargoyles (Seen all but two episodes of the origonal run when it was on the WB. The story line was coninued throughout the series, kind of like Babylon 5. very ambitious for a cartoon).
Mmm, Johnny Bravo. Reminds me all too much of my writing partner.
I have a problem with falling for short run cartoons:
Pirates of Darkwater. Reboot.
Things that are really nifty and you only get a few seasons before the storyline stops. (Despite rumours of a new season of Reboot, Mainframe is still waffling)
We’re big Anime fans around here (if only someone could translate the Japanese versions we have of Project Ako, Robotech, and Vampire Hunter D – they KILL Ds cool voice in the dubbed version, ick). I’m still trying to find a subtitled (NO DUBBING!! AAAHHH!) version of “A Wind Called Amnesia” that’s not going to cost me 45.00. Lots of Bakshi on the shelves here, and uncountable boxes from the geniuses at Termite Terrace.
Cartoon Network has done a good job of keeping the fetish happy. Dexter’s Lab, PowerPuff Girls (Gundam Wing added to the Toonami line up), Johnny Bravo (swoon, heh). Unfortunately, they also subject us to things like 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo, A Pup Named … etc. The horror, the horror.
I just haven’t been the same since that house fell on my sister.
You rule! Spaceghost coast to coast might be the funniest show I’ve ever seen. I think drugs could be mostly eliminated just by deporting Spaceghost’s writers.
Oh, what’s that? So now you say life sucks?
Well 99% of it’s what you make of it…
So if your life sucks, YOU suck!
I hardly ever remember to watch or record any TV shows, but if I’m around during Simpsons or Futurama I’ll usually watch. King of the Hill used to be funny, but seems to drag a lot nowadays. I also happened to discover Cow and Chicken while flipping channels one day; I kinda like it because everything is ridiculously exaggerated, and the show has no redeeming social value whatsoever (which, as any kid can tell you, is crucial to a cartoon being entertaining). A half an hour of total stupidity. Also it’s on at about the same time I often get home from work. - MC
Hey, kelli, it’s great to be back. After the Great Password Hack, I had some problems getting back to the boards (i.e., I forgot my password). Plus, things at work have been really hectic. But I back, baby!
Okay, I gotta admit that “Dragonball Z” leaves me colder than the little penguin in the Bugs Bunny cartoon. But “Batman: Beyond” really surprised me. I didn’t think I’d like it, but it rocks. Like all the new WB action toons, the voicework is outstanding.
Say, did anyone catch the “Batman” cartoon entitled “Legends of the Dark Knight.” Story goes: 3 kids are hanging out, swapping stories about what the Batman is really like. 1st kid tells a story his uncle told him, which turns into a classic 40’s Batman comic! They even got Gary Owens (“Laugh-In”) to do Batman!
2nd kid poo-poos this story, and tells them that Batman is much scarier than this. Her story turns into Frank Miller’s Dark Knight, with Michael Ironside as the Batman!
The beautiful thing about this toon is that the animators captured the artwork of the original comic books artists 100% correctly. The 40’s Batman was Bill Finger/Bob Kane all the way, while the Dark Knight was perfect Miller, including the heavy black lines and silhouettes.
That’s one of my favorite episodes of Batman, too, Guy. Another favorite is “Deep Freeze,” where Mr. Freeze is broken out of jail by a multi-billionaire, Grant Walker, who wants Freeze to make him immortal through cryogenics. The guy made his fortune building theme parks, and his latest one was a city of the future, not unlike Epcot.
It was obvious this guy was an evil version of Walt Disney, who, according to UL, had his body frozen upon death. I laughed my fool head off when I got the joke! And I bet no one under the age of twenty who saw the episode caught on, either!
I think all my favorites have been mentioned here. I absolutely adore Batman. I have a crush on Bruce Wayne. I also like Batman Beyond. And of course, Simpsons is the best show on TV, and Futurama and South Park are also excellent. Space Ghost is great…what time is it on? It’s never on when I’m watching TV anymore.
Duckman, Dragonball Z, ReBoot, Hong Kong Phooey, Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, Mike Lu & Og, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Batman, Pokemon, Smurfs, Snorks, Tarzan, Mulan, Pinnocchio, Pepe La Pew (who got my vote for CN president), The Black Cauldron, The Critic, Futurama, The Simpsons, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Dudley Do-Right, Roger Rabbit, Donald Duck, Goofy, Darkwing Duck, Daffy Duck, Superfriends, Transformers, Muppet Babies — oh, pizza guy’s here. I guess that’s good enough for now
Here are the Anime titles that are my favorites, and IMHO, classics:
1)Akira
2)Fist of the North Star
3)Ninja Scroll
4)Ghost in the Shell
5)Appleseed
These are what I consider to be the core of Anime, but that is just my opinion.
I love 'em!
“Winners never quit and quitters never win, but those who never win and never quit are idiots.”
Love the toons. And you people who get the Cartoon Channel are soooo lucky. All we get is Toon Disney. Sure, they got Duck Tails and Darkwing Duck, but that’s it.
Scarlett O’Kellibelli–I knew there was a reason I loved you, & this thread, alomg with sex appeal, is it.
Try Futurama or Gundam Wing. Tre’ cool!
Like my sig line?

You want cheesy? I’ll give you cheesy.
I am a fan of G.I. Joe. The funniest cartoon of the eighties; Beware The Viper! has got to be the funniest animated half-hour in history.
Eagles may soar free and proud, but weasels never get sucked into jet engines.
Well, I’ve always been a big fan of Scoobie Do since I was a kid, enjoyed Reboot, like Futurama, Daria, the Simpsons, the Tick, the Critic, Bob and Margerate, DEXTERS LAB (of course), Southpark, the Jetsons, Josie and the Pussycats, Bump in the night, Gumby, the Ghost Busters (the first season before the animators changed and the characters started looking weird), Sabrina, Pirates of Dark Water, Snorks, Courage the Cowardly Dog, and the Smurfs.
