Hillary Clinton's Presidential Campaign Discussion

As your article is titled, he’s shattering GOP records.

I guess we’ll see after the next FEC filings if there is actually a gap in Trump’s favour.

I was bemused with Hillary’s appearance on the Tonight Show last night. She said the time off gave her time to reflect and decide that she wants to start talking about what needs to be done to help people, not get caught up in the back and forth insults. Then she spent the next 10 minutes bashing Trump.

That’s her fundamental problem, nothing she says is sincere. It’s all just politics.

The Tonight Show is entertainment. Bashing Trump is fun. And so, so easy…

I’m sure her upcoming speeches will be more constructive. Will any of them be featured on TV news?

Is that Trump’s fundamental problem as well?

That’s certainly the conventional wisdom.

And you’re happy she took the so, so easy route? And besides: SHE WAS ON TV! If she’s worried the news won’t cover her positive message in her upcoming speeches she had the perfect opportunity to circumvent them right there.

We’re seeing quite a few Hillary lawn signs sprouting up here in lefty suburban Cleveland, Ohio, but my parents, who live downstate in a much more rural area, say they’ve seen none - more than a few Trump signs there, though. Feh.

Trump is a liar, but nothing he says is calibrated by polling or focus groups. He says what’s on his mind. Clinton says what’s on her handlers’ minds. Anything she says, chances are it came from Robby Mook, Benenson, Abedin, or Podesta. While it may be smart, kinda like playing chess with Garry Kasporov telling you where to move, it also makes you look bad when your opponent is such a contrast.

So you think he birthered for years because he believed that Obama wasn’t born in Hawaii? Not because he thought it was a good way to get attention and support from an underserved slice of the electorate?

Yeah, that’s the other side, he does say a lot of stuff for self-promotional purposes. Which is also a big turnoff to a lot of voters.

I just posted the interview in which Trump defended his birtherism not on the merits but because it made him “quite popular, if you want to know the truth”.

But that’s not “saying what’s on his mind” – that’s saying something calculated to get support/attention, just like you accuse Hillary of doing.

I think you’re repeating conventional wisdom, not actually analyzing.

It’s still very different, in two majors ways:

  1. One is saying things as a “hey, look at me!” tactic, while the other is saying things(many of which she doesn’t mean going by her past history) to win an election. Birtherism, unlike Clinton’s proposed policies that she doesn’t intend to implement(or do the exact opposite in the case of TPP), has no consequences for governance. It’s like believing in UFOs.
  2. One is saying what smarter people tell her to say, the other is at least writing his own script. Trump can tell his own lies. Clinton needs them fed to her.

That’s kind of to be expected, isn’t it? You’ll see Trump signs and few to no Clinton signs where mostly people (and most yards) support the former.

In my suburb of Dayton where Trump support is relatively high, I’ve seen a few Clinton signs. One house not far from me sports signs from both candidates; I wonder what the story is there.

So you think Trump birthered just for attention, not to build political support? And bullshit about consequences – birtherism directly contributes to things like racism in society, and to the newfound ‘comfort’ with which white supremacists feel they can now openly identify as without the fear of public rebuke and ridicule that they used to (rightly) be afraid of.

So Trump doesn’t have anyone advising him on what to say? And Clinton doesn’t come up with anything she says herself?

I expect this is hyperbole, but you should take a step back whenever you find that your hyperbole just so happens to match the braindead conventional wisdom of Halperin and his ilk.

You really think being a more accomplished liar is a plus?

Both of them are actually pretty lousy liars, which is why I wonder why they bother. Must be a tic.

As an IT guy, and occasional Reddit-or, I found this article interesting:

Apparently Clinton’s IT guy was asking Reddit for help with altering the email address on messages and deleting old messages. He then deleted the posts when people caught on.

It seems like George HW Bush might be voting for Clinton.

I hope this is true and that it stops Clinton’s continued drop in the polls.
