I realize that a lot of you folks see hatred here, but I don’t. I just see willfull, indeed almost gleeful ignorance and closed-mindedness. His4ever is not your enemy. The enemy is the ignorance she displays. I’m sorry for her, as I would be for any afflicted person.
Exactly. His4ever doesn’t seem to be here to make enemies. There are some things she takes on faith and will refuse to reconsider in rational debate, but I have not seen hatred in her posts.
Frankly, hatred would be easier to deal with than willful ignorance.
Well, as a practicing heathen I’m sure H4E won’t care what I have to say but I’ll say it anyway. I think she’s sad. How terrible that someone would live their life in fear of the one thing that is supposed to bring peace and joy! How terrible that instead of absorbing the many messages of Christ and using them to uplift and improve her experience of living, she instead has chosen to become like, well, Chick, who is also a desperately sad soul, and dwell in fear and judgment.
It seems especially tragic to see that someone has the capacity to believe in something which could be transformative, yet wastes it.
Just sad.

The thing is, Jesus’ admonition to the apostles to shake the dust off their feet if a town refuses to hear them doesn’t really apply to you. You’re not traveling to a community which has not heard the word of Christ. There are Christians here, lots of them. All stripes. Even a few who read the Bible in exactly the same way you do (a tiny minority among Christians worldwide, as literalists tend to either forget or actually acknowledge and celebrate the exclusivity of their club) - and yet for the most part, these other posters manage not to offend.
Not you. No, sirree. You’re the most offensive Christian to come to these boards since, I think, danielinthewolvesden. He was banned over a year ago. He had quite the temper, but I actually sensed the love of Christ in him. From you, I sense self-righteouseness. That’s it. Honestly.
You are in no place to be shaking the dust off your feet. You are not in the position of the apostles who were told that. This community has already heard the word of Christ long before you came here, and many, many members have already accepted it. You try to teach your betters when you would profit more by learning from them. Can it be sheer ego that drives your attudite of Sharing The Truth that you think only you have, and refusing to even acknowledge (that I’ve seen) that there are already Christians here, who spread the Word far, far better than you do?
Why don’t you pay attention to what they say, these people who also know Christ and who are able and willing to articulate their beliefs? You don’t have to agree with all they say - you must “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling” - but it’s the height of arrogance for you to assume you know the truth better than all of them, as I believe you do assume.
Listen to them: Libertarian, RTFirefly, tomndebb, Jodi, cjhoworth, Triskadeskamus, Polycarp, Dreamer, Vanilla, even JerseyDiamond, who can be snippy but obviously knows and loves Christ - these are a very few of the good Christian people on this board whom you can and should learn from, and whom you should not attempt to teach. They are your betters, and this is just the sampling my tired brain came up with after 5 seconds’ thought. Do searches on these people. Read their posts. Meanwhile…

Because if there is indeed a God, one would hope he or she (as the case might be) could create a thinking being that could have an original thought rather than just recycle some marginally entertaining book created by Jewish scholars a century or two after the Roman empire peaked.
Why, if there is a God, did that being create a curious spirit and logic, if they weren’t to be used? You do an incredible diservice to this God you profess to believe if you don’t use those gifts you were given. Blind following is not the way to salvation. Think about it. It is, in fact, the best way to get lost.

Monty, your thread title asks why His4ever tells lies about her deity. I emphasise her for a reason. In your major post above, you accuse His4ever of being intolerant. Have you reflected on the inconsistency here?
I am not a student of His4ever’s posts. But from what I have seen, her position is simple, narrow, utterly faithful and unthinking. She does not and is not interested in debate. As far as I am aware, she has never started one (and yes, she has of course posted in GD, but that is the correct place for witnessing, which is all she does). She may well be the most stupid person ever to post here. She may well be the most ignorant person ever to post here. She is certainly one of the least worthwhile posters here because she never reveals any facts, never engages in any debate, and never offers any insights or analysis. The only thing she does, time after time, is state what she believes. A topic of exceedingly limited interest, at least to me.
If you wish to criticise her on any of the forgoing grounds, fine. I always have the greatest admiration for someone with sufficient skill to shoot a fish in a barrel.
But what gets on my wick is this crap about His4ever being a liar. A liar is a person who tells an intentional falsehood. I have never seen anything whatsoever to indicate that His4ever does not believe the nonsense she spouts. Her intention is to spread what she believes to be true.
Yes, her interpretations of the bible may well be bizarre. There are lots of aspects of any religion that are bizarre. One man’s religion is another man’s etc etc. But the fact that you can see no rational justification for the position that a true believer of a particular religion takes does not mean they are a liar when they say what they believe.

His4Ever, every time I read the judging, condemning posts of your (and your ilk who have been here before), I move one step closing to converting away from Christianity. If you are truly trying to inspire people to accept Jesus Christ, you are doing the exact opposite–you are driving people away because, whether you mean to or not, you are painting God as a hateful being and Christians as a hateful people.
But I am sure you don’t care. Perhaps someday in the future you will.

If I say that according to my religion black is white and you prove to me comprehensively that black is not white, but I simply say that I continue to believe that black is white then I am an idiot and beyond all reason, but I am not a liar, unless I do not actually believe that black is white.
There is no hint whatsoever that anything that you or anyone else has said has gone any way at all towards convincing His4ever that any of the beliefs she started out with are wrong. Therefore she continues to regurgitate her beliefs. And in doing so she is not a liar. She is a fuckwit. There’s a difference.
His4ever, I would just like to comment on what Polycarp told you. If you are trying to covert anyone, you are going about it the wrong way.
Don’t try to lecture me on the potential perils of MY lifestyle. Try telling what’s so good about YOUR lifestyle. Saying the God will smite me and it’s a fact that’s written in some book just ain’t gonna do it. What’s so good about your deal? What does your side have to offer?
