"Hitler mad scene"

Ah, am I the only one who’s wondering that, given this interview had to have taken place long after *Downfall *was made, what’s with the toothbrush (i.e. Hitler) mustache he’s (still?) sporting?!?

But he kept the trains running on time.

Oh, gee thanks. Way to spoil it for me!

Billy Frick was also from Switzerland. He made a side-career playing Hitler back in the
60’s, most notably in Is Paris Burning?

Now why would the Swiss want to cast an Austrians in such a bad light?

Seconded. It’s very good. You get a powerful sense of the insularity and oppressive atmosphere of the Fuhrerbunker in those last days, and Ganz makes a very convincing Hitler, going from determination to euphoria to anger to despair.

What was the first parody to use that clip? The first one I remember was for when Hitler found out that you wouldn’t be able to carry over your character from Dragon Age I to Dragon Age II, but I’m sure it had been around a while.

I don’t know, but here’s mine!

My bad on the German-Swiss confusion. I thought that the Iffland Ring was only for German actors- it’s for German speaking actors and is Austrian in fact.

Nothing really to add to this, except that Bruno Ganz was the best thing about the not-very-good Liam Neeson movie Unknown. Ganz plays an unapologetic ex-Stasi officer turned private investigator. He was great! The 90 minutes of the film where he is not onscreen are kind of forgettable, though.

I seem to remember it was an anti-Hillary one during the latter days of the 2008 Democratic primary campaign, but Wiki doesn’t say: Downfall (2004 film) - Wikipedia

Here’s a BBC article on the phenomenon: BBC News - The rise, rise and rise of the Downfall Hitler parody

Seriously, nobody is curious about him still having the Hitler mustache?! Like I said since he’s talking about the YouTube parodies this had to be long after filming was completed. And the most disturbing thing is, with that ‘stache, Bruno Ganz totally looks like freakin’ Hitler in the interview!

He’s not talking about youtube parodies; it’s a parody dub of an interview Ganz gave on his decision to play Hitler, which likely took place around the filming, possibly even on-set.

I’m not certain, but I believe that clip may have been taken from the following movie starring Alec Guinness:

Hitler: The Last Ten Days

I thought it was a very good film. However, there are many documentaries that also cover the same subject and interview some of the people who actually were present during that time. You might prefer to check out some of them.

Downfall was another good film starring Bruno Ganz. I believe it interviewed Hitler’s real secretary who was present during that time. So it would be part documentary.

True.

When he’s not working on movies he’s actually available as Hitler for private parties. He also tours with Hal Holbrook in a two man show entitled Twain & Adolf.

He opened a new Chevy dealership here just last week.

This season it’s called A Connecticut Yankee in Auschwitz.

To me, he’ll always be discussing how Gangnam Style got a billion views

I’ve heard it’s really a gas.
