Hiya, stranger. Tell me a little about yourself...

Ooh…someone actually wants to know about ME!? A real, live, newbie? Wow, I feel so loved!!

Okay, enough of that. I realize this is about my second post, but I’ve been reading the boards so much for so long that I’ve gotten used to a bunch of ya. Finally decided to register tonight.

Name’s Rachel, I hail from Dallas, Texas, at the ripe old age of 14. ::ducks, just barely misses getting hit by that tomato:: Okay, that was not cool…sometimes it seems like maybe some of you need a bit of updating from the younger generation, anyway.

If you really care (which I know you don’t), I play the violin, plus every other stringed orchestral instrument, giving me the coveted position of assistant teacher in my school orchestra. It’s…not…what I’d thought it’d be like. [Note to all school teachers out there: I know hardly anybody seems to appreciate your hard work and patience, but believe me, I do. Hardest thing I had to do was try to conduct an orchestra of a bunch of people one year younger than me.]

Okay, enough about me. Sorry to ramble!

Hi there Kerrigan!

14 years old? Shouldn’t you be in bed by now? Sheesh. It’s 11:30 at night! Kids today. Why, in my day…well, I forget. Dang memory is the first thing to go.

Just kiddin’ of course. Welcome to the board! Glad you popped in to this loverly little thread. I thought it had dropped off the face of the earth until it was nicely revived this evening. Hope to see you around.

Hey there Bottle of smoke, imthjckaz, nuf said?

Kerrigan? The evil queen from Starcraft? I really need to stop playing that and do something productive, but I’ve only got a few more scenarios left to finish on the expansion pack.

While I’m here, I might as well introduce myself…

I’m a 25 year old from Auburn, Michigan, never married (not even close), no pets, and I live alone. I’d get a dog, but I’d feel guilty leaving him home alone so much. I work as a computer programmer (doing this for almost four years now), but since my company is relatively small, I get to do a pretty good variety of projects. I find recently though that programming has lost some of its appeal, and I see myself writing professionally (probably fiction) somewhere down the road.

I generally tend to be an indoorsy loner, spending time on the computer, reading books, watching movies, listening to music, that sort of thing. I enjoy outdoor activities if done with other people, but generally don’t do them by myself. How many outdoor sports can you do by yourself and have fun, anyway?

I’ve been around SDMB for well over a year now, but most of my posts have been limited to GQ and GD or hit and run, so unfortunately I haven’t really connected personally with anyone here until about two weeks ago. Now I feel obliged to socialize a bit more and post in MPSIMS.

Hmm. That’s probably more than any of you care to know. Anyway, hi Smoke!

Hi, I’m John. I’ve been reading this board for about six months, but I only began posting a few weeks ago. I’m participating in this thread in lieu of finishing my math homework. (The only thing that’s keeping me going is my belief that the guy who invented quartic equations is probably in hell right now.)

I’m 16, I live in New York, and I love baseball and music – specifically playing guitar and drums. I enjoy reading, listening to the radio, playing video games, hanging with friends, and all the other crap 16-year-olds like to do. My favorite TV show is Mystery Science Theater 3000, the greatest band of all time is The Who, and Goodfellas is the pinnacle of cinematic achievement.

Oh, and as anyone who read the “great baseball names” thread can tell you, my username comes from a 1920s Yankee pitcher. This is a really interesting message board, and like now, I always seem to end up reading it when I’m supposed to be doing my homework. Despite the fact that you’re all destroying any chance I have at an education, I’m glad I found the SDMB.

It’s nice to see more people checked in here. Hi to all of you! mrblue, I’m glad to see you here. Another poor soul sucked from the land of QG and GD into the inescapable MPSIMS world of post parties, flirting, and sex threads. Bwahahaha!

It is rather like a black hole that consumes copious amounts of time, isn’t it? Does wonders for one’s post count, though. I think I must have had 30 or 40 in just the “Nobody Loves Me” thread.
