Introduce yourselves please?????

I am a 51 year old divorced Mother and Grandmother, BBW, semi dissabled with asthma, anyway, some things are best done slowly.
I live in The Columbia River Gorge in Washington State in Carson.
I love the outdoors and the mountains, I also love the beach and everything in nature.
My interests are cooking, collecting movies and Nintendo games, animals, gardening, landscaping, camping, fishing, slow walks in the mountains and the Ocean beaches and anything that nature can provide for relaxation.
I am very honest, independent and very Passionate about everything that I do.
Someday, I would like to meet a man that is not hung up on the Twiggy type of woman, which I am not.
I have been divorced and alone for 18 years, and have not dated in almost 11, so I am a bit rusty, but who knows…I think that it would come back to me.

Yes, there are still decent women in this world, but, you have to keep your eyes and ears open to find us.
We are the women who are gentle and sweet, but quiet, who are raising our families, takeing care of our lives and existing day to day....hopeing to find that special person who is our heart's mate.
You cannot tell us apart from out married sisters....for we still look married ourselves.
We work to pay our bills, hug our children....and when the world is asleep.... just for a minute....we let ourselves cry out in the darkness at the pain that exists deep in our hearts.
So, if by the word DECENT....you mean someone who understands that life is not fare, still smiles through her tears, takes care of her family against all odds, and loves with all of her heart, then yes, we do still exist.
Good luck in finding us....for you surely will.

Now, please, introduce yourself to me, so that I can start getting to know who you are and what you are like too please?

Hey there.

I’m a fairly new member myself (awm tew dahs owd!).

In any case… I’m JeffyDMan. I chose that name based on the fact that my first name is Geoff and I am the man!. I also have a teddybear collection going. I’m not kidding about that either.

I’m 23 years old and reside in Tempe, Arizona (insert witty comment about dry heat here). I work for the University of Phoenix and will also begin attending classes there to gain my MBA. I have been working for the UoP for about 7 months now.

I’m a geek to the extreme. Technology is a big weakness for me - I have to have it! I also spend a lot of my time cooking (and eating!), working on my classic 1973 Chevy Cheyenne C20 pickup truck, swimming and pretending to work out.

I’m a rather anti-social but not-very-shy individual. I try to be as honest as I can, but I can help waffling once in a while. A good argument is healthy.

I’m single and have been for close to 2 years now. I have found very little interest in getting back into the dating game seriously. You tend to lose your trust in people when someone so close cheats on you. While I do occasionally maintain a cheesy personal ad on both FARK personals and Yahoo!.. neither of them are serious to any real degree (I haven’t gotten any responses, either. They must work perfectly then!).

Not really to much else about me. I work, go home… do stuff there, go to sleep and repeat the next day. What a life I live.

Nice to meet you, Ladyrose.

I’m Roadwalker.
Up until a a couple of months ago, I was a teacher, but now I really do walk on the road because I do surveying.
I’ve been married for 10 years.
I have 6 children. One is in heaven already. The oldest is 9, the youngest is one week old.
like to read, but I don’t read much.
I love to go to movies. The last one I went to was in February.
I spent most of my free time with my family.
I like to write. I have a childresn’s story plus some short stories and novels I work on. If I never publish them, I still enjoyed writing them.
My one year old is watching me type as I type. I’ll put him on my lap now that I’m done.

Welcome aboard(s), Ladyrose and JeffyDMan!

Ladyrose, if there is any way you can do it, we’ll be having a SDMB group meeting in Portland on the first weekend in August. Please consider attending. You’ll have a chance to meet lots of wonderful people and stinkers like me.

As for myself, I am a kitchen Nazi extrordinaire, collector and musician. I play all types of music (except rap or C&W) and perform on sax, flute and guitar. I write lyrics for folk ballads, rock & roll, blues and the occassional jazz piece. I go to concerts and am also a charter member of the Sashimi Preservation Society.

I live with my wolf hybrid named Zen and my alley cat named Piewacket in an old Victorian near the ancient Spanish royal road through Silicon Valley. I love to travel and have been to Europe and Asia. I run a recipe thread at these boards and do my best to give cooking advice to those in need. Here’s a link to The Ultimate Recipe Thread’s Active Index. If you have some treasured recipes you’d like to share, please feel free to post them there. Never hesitate to ask any questions you might have, I’ll be glad to help.

I hope you can make to Portland, otherwise I’ll see you here at the boards. This is a wonderful place, chock full of really decent and loving folk. You’ve found one of the 'Nets best kept secrets and I hope you’ll have lots of fun as a member.

Hi, ny name is featherlou, and I am in no way, shape or form as much of an overachiever as zenster.

I live in Calgary with my husband (the Dread Pirate Jimbo) and our two cats - Feather and Max. I’m 36 years old. My greatest claim to fame is probably my reading abilities; in pretty much all other things, I am about as average as average can be.

I like to have fun as much as possible, avoid negative people, and take life easy. Hmm, this could easily be interpreted as boring. I just find it relaxing, though. We’re living quiet, peaceful lives, and that’s about all I ever wanted.

(By the way, what does “BBW” mean?)

(Oh yeah, my crack about Zenster was a joke. I forgot the smiley at the end.)

Hi i’m Will, I am 23 live in Brixton, I work as a technical support co-ordinator and have a beautiful girlfriend called Kate who I have been with for a year. I love cooking, reading, music, film and relaxing with my friends and family. I also like comedy from the likes of Bill Hicks, Bill Bailey, and Eddie Izzard to name but a few…

Nice to meet you to Jeff, thanks for the intro!

Thank you for the nice intro Roadwalker, you sound like a family man…so happy to meet you too!

Comment about dry heat already inserted. (I’ve had this as my location for about a week now. I’m trying to convince myself that it’s true, but 116 degrees is still entirely too hot, dry heat or no.)

Greetings, Ladyrose & JeffyDMan!

Nice to meet you to Zenster,I don’t know about the get together as I am normally to busy for such things, I do like this group and I will love keeping in contact here though. Thanks for the intro too!

PS: Since Zenster has already mentioned an upcoming Portland dopefest to Ladyrose, I might mention the possibility of an upcoming Phoenix area dopefest to JeffyDMan. It tends to be a good break from the go to work, go home routine.

Thank you for your intro featherlou, I am happy to meet you too, and no, you do not sound boring,if I didn’t have to work and been a single mom of 4 for 18 years, I would like to do that.
Glad to meetchya hun!
Oh and…BBW means Big Beautiful Woman…of course…LOL:D

Thanks for the nice infor WILLASS, glad to meetchya!

Can you believe that my mother, when she was a little girl, had a Siamese cat named Piewacket? Didn’t the name come from that movie, Bedknobs and Broomsticks?

Greetings to you too lel, glad to meetchya too!

I’m a 23 (24 in two weeks!) year old daughter, sister, aunt, student, and waitress living in Columbus, Ohio. Possibly relocating in the fall to Louisville, Kentucky. Or somewhere else, I haven’t decided yet. I have no idea what I’m doing with my life and was trying to figure it out for a while. Now I just figure whatever happens will happen.

I like to read and I love music. . . rarely do I turn my television on and I haven’t seen hundreds of popular movies, but where ever I am, there’s usually music playing. I like to read, but don’t like to hurt my poor little brain too much, so I just read whatever tickles my fancy. I have a hamster and a golden retriever, although the dog lives with my parents.

I’m somewhat anti-social, and for the most part, like it that way.

Nice to meet you, Ladyrose.

I always thought BBW meant Big Beautiful Woman…

I am 38 (39 in Oct), married to dh for 18 years, but with him a total of 22 years. Have two children, ds is 10.5, dd will be 8 in August. We are a Christian family attending a Baptist church.

We have a dawg, a shtizu-poodle mix, he’s 5 months old.

I’ve been a paralegal for 15 years, prior to that I was executive secretaries elsewhere.

I love to taste new and interesting wines and foods. I enjoy an ocean breeze but don’t enjoy sitting on the beach for long periods of time.

I like to help people whenever and however I can.

I also believe this quote, “A good time for laughing is when you can.”

Also, I dont’ have a problem if someone doesn’t use the shift key BUT if they only use the shift key, then I have a problem

Hi, Ladyrose. I’m fairly new here myself (not that you can tell it by my post count), introduced to the SDMB by my daughter, whiterabbit. I’m hitting the big 5-0 this year. I currently live below sea level in New Orleans (although that’s always subject to change, Papa Tiger’s company being highly mobile), which is a town designed for fun. Not for work, alas! “Work ethic? We don’t got no steenking work ethic!” Did you know the typical work week here ends Friday at noon, although most people have every other Friday off, and the weekend officially begins on Thursday? Not a bad deal if you can get it!

Anyway, I have two kids – the other one, Young Tiger will be heading off to Air Force basic training in November – and currently the animal count is two dogs (Rusty, golden retriever, and Isaac, yellow lab/golden retriever mix, heavy on the lab) and one cat (Emily, tortoiseshell with a Siamese attitude). Have lived all over the place, especially since I met and married Papa Tiger seven years ago – we’ve moved probably 12,000 miles in the intervening time. It does keep life interesting!

I’m a self-employed court reporter, doing strictly work for firms that do federal administrative agency-type stuff, no criminal trials for me! Plus it’s a portable job, which is a true necessity with our mobile lifestyle. We’re a computer geek family, Papa Tiger being the uber-geek, having gone to IBM programming school and gotten into computers in 1967; we currently have six computers for four people, and I’m contemplating adding a seventh – hey, I only have one right now!

We’re also in the throes of house stuff – the current project is replacing the nasty stained pale blue carpeting in the downstairs of our house with a floating laminate wood floor. I am currently sitting on the most GODAWFUL ugly fake brick linoleum I have ever seen, that was revealed when the carpet was pulled up in one room. It will be interesting to see if we can do this without killing each other. At least Papa Tiger has figured out that while he’s the power tool guy, I’m the finicky detail work person, so we’ll see how it works. This gave him a good excuse to get the table saw he’s been drooling over forever, however. We keep hoping a tropical storm or hurricane will come along and flood the downstairs so the flood insurance racket – er, policy we hold will pay to replace the floor without us doing the work, but have about given up; four storms in the two years we’ve been here, and we’re STILL dry. Phooey!

Anybody want some rain? We got, by official measurement, 4.55 inches yesterday afternoon in less than 45 minutes. And we STILL can’t get the house to flood properly!

My name is Shirley Ujest.

I am a homocidal thread killer.

It beats cleaning house.

I live in Michigan. Two kids - 5 and 3 - a dog, one husband and a love of writing, reading trashy novels and making fun of others fills in the blanks of life for me.
