Oh, I almost forgot…I have a Michigan Panthers (United States Football League team from the 1980s). Number 1, which was worn by Anthony “The Darter” Carter, who also played for my beloved college team from Ann Arbor.
I would hazard a guess that a Blackhawks jersey at a Stars game was probably #20 - Eddie Belfour, one of the main cogs that helped bring the Cup to Dallas.
I have a signed Denis Savard home jersey from his Blackhawks days. Don’t wear it though…I have a generic jersey for games.
Also have a Chris Jericho jersey for my hockey games. Go Jericholics!
This makes me feel old - I remember his dad…
How can you rag on hockey jerseys? They’re for everyone! Half the fun of going to a hockey game is looking for girls in the stands wearing jerseys (the hotness of a girl is increased exponentially if she’s wearing a cool jersey–just google the University of Kentucky hockey calendars if you don’t believe me).
You wear them for your favorite team. You wear them for your favorite player (even if he’s on another team right now). Hell, you can even wear them just because they look cool (I have a large collection of jerseys for this very reason). And yeah, I guess you could cite their expense as a reason for wearing them as much as possible.
And a quick aside–another thing that’s great about hockey jerseys is they don’t NEED a name or number. Any of the other jerseys (football, basketball, and to a certain extent, baseball), are designed mostly around the numbers. They HAVE to have them or they look dumb. You can have lots of unnumbered hockey jerseys and it’s no big deal. Even in the large collection I have, the only numbered ones are of Arturs Irbe, Dennis Bonvie, Bobby Hull, and myself.
MY father-in-law was bartending at some NHL function in Pittsburgh, and some higher-up from the Clagary Flames saw him looking at a jersey hanging near the bar. The guy asked my FIL if he liked it, my FIL said yes, and the guy gave it to him. For free. My FIL gave it to me, and I wear it fairly frequently. I love the colors.
Well, I have three Kings hockey jerseys…and each time the player was traded (Mathieu Schnieder most recently). I think it is pretty cool to wear your jersey to the game, but for goodness sakes do not get a jersey and have them put the number 69 on it, unless you are 16 years old.
I can’t add much to this as I don’t have a jersey (yet). But CuriousCanuck !! The Leafs? Say it ain’t so!
Go Sens Go!
My six year old son has 8 jerseys: Wild, Leafs, Senators, Ducks, Canucks, (old “skate” & new “whale” version) and vintage North Stars and Quebec.
Adult jerseys we own- Canucks & Quebec.
Go WILD!! Go CANUCKS!!
It is?
dons her Sergei Fedorov jersey
Hmmmmm, I don’t feel that much hotter…
Ah, well. GO WINGS!
That should read “Wearing only the jersey”. it is the sexy legs copupled with the jersey that is… well damn fine.
And yes AC
GO LEAFS!
You know that Belfour plays for the Leafs, right?
All I ment was wearing jerseys that had nothing to do with either team or any player playing. Other than that, I have no problem with people wearing jerseys. Also, I don’t buy the support for the game thing, paying for a ticket and/or attending a game is supporting the game, wearing a jersey out to a place other than a game is supporting the game. I guess it goes along the lines of wearing a band shirt to a concert of a different band. Keep in mine, these are only my opinions, and when it come to fashion and people’s ideas of what fashion is, I have alot of opinions.
