I suppose that the fact that the average age of the Wings has nothing to do with it? Hell, they got rid of 40something Larry Murphy and the average still went up.
Just like last year, the Wing will burn out in the playoffs.
The Avs and the Stars are the class of the Campbell Conference (excuse me, Western Conference). St. Louis lost too much of their depth and never addressed their goaltending situation. Detroit is too old to handle the long playoff grind. Of course the Avs have lost Bourque and Klemm from their defence and now Floppa is taking a sabatical - all of which hurts them, but their offensive depth will help. The Stars have improved their offensive depth and probably have the deepest defence in the league.
I think that most people here already assume that you are.

Seeing a guy get a two minute penalty for something you’re serving five years for would piss off any convict.
Well, I never foster too much hope for the Hawks, but analysts indicate that this year they will be exponentially better than last year. Not necessarily Cup bound, but more entertaining for us fans.
And I guess, that’s good enough for me.

What Oblong said. Rolling out one of the most devastating power play units in NHL history, my beloved Wings are sure to pile up the wins in the regular season. Only problem is, they don’t call penalties in the playoffs.
The Wings have had 2-games-to-0 leads in series each of the last two years, then just seem to hit a wall and get swept the next four games. That’s age. That’s still a problem. That’s what worries me.
The Detroit News had a big feature on Hasek Sunday. It included a box with his career stats. The highest his goals-against average has been in the last five years is 2.27.
