hockey hockey hockey

F Everybody’s I, my dislike of Yzerman, is through no fault of his own, or indeed my dislike of the RedWings. It is due solely to Roommate Amy from Ann Arbor Michigan…who was wholly incapable of recognizing anything outside of the state of Michigan as existing outside the realm of ‘horrific’

  1. Meat tasted better in Ann Arbor

  2. Local news was better in Ann Arbor

  3. The Air was better in Ann Arbor.

and the all out screamfest fight began when we sat at a COLLEGE hockey game, in Bowling Green Ohio and she was comparing COLLEGE LEVEL hockey players to Steve Yzerman.

“Well, I guess this is a good team, but YOU should see Steve Yzerman. HE plays in MICHIGAN.”

I was so tired of doing the wanking motion that we just had it out wherein I told her to hike her ass back to Michigan if she loved it so much.

Don’t you be worry, Mnementh.

The Leafs are not taking prisoners this year. We’re gunning for the Hawks especially. Those sissies will get a serious wedgie every time we meet.

In fact, I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if we copped Lord Stanley’s birdbath in the end.

You heard it here first.

ohhhhhhh, Ray Bourque retires (his number too…) tomorrow night… snifff… snifff… Great guy he is.

Doug Weight was named assistant captain of the Blues today.

He’s so dreamy.

What’s funny about this is that ann arbor has no local(TV) news, they get the detroit stations. They do have their own newspaper but its’ pretty terrible.

The meat really does taste better there, but only because of the increased excitement caused by the chance someone will call you a murderer for eating it.

The air, however, is top notch. In fact, if I could tell the difference between it and other air, I’m sure I would like it much better.

[/]JAKED!

This year belongs to the Flyers. They will conquer the league with extreme prejudice.

For opposing NHL players, the arrival of the Flyers in their town will be like those scenes in sci-fi movies, where folks stare up at the sky in bug-eyed horror/wonder as the gigantic alien mothership blots out the sun and casts its shadow over the doomed populace. I predict that at least six teams won’t even bother to show up the play the Flyers this year; they’ll simply forfeit on the spot and run away to hide beneath their beds.

In the blessed name of Bernie Parent, the Cup finally returns to Philadelphia this year.

“So it is written, so it shall be done” (spoken in voice like Yul Brynner in The Ten Commandments.)

Well, the owner of my company just told me that we will be the proud owners of 10 pairs of tickets for the Avalanche. (We’re going in on season tickets with another company who has A LOT more employees.) So, I know I get to go to at least two games this year. I know that’s not a lot, but I haven’t been to a hockey game in about three years! Whoo hoo!

Doug Weight *used to be *captain of the Edmonton Oilers.

He’s so…[sub]gone now.[/sub]
:frowning:

However the Oilers will still finish ahead of the Hawks this year, sorry jbj.

You couch potatoes can jabber on about the televised games and yer box seats!
I’m going the extra step!!!

Yes, that’s right, I went and got myself a sweet pair of Super Tacks a couple weeks ago, have been going to open skate, and teaching my kids at the same time, and sometime this winter I am returning to the hallowed ice of Open league Hockey! Wooooo!

Actually it is quite embarassing how badly I have forgotton the basics of Ice skating:) I plan to pick it up quickly though.
Hmm, will this make jarbabyj think I’m dreamy too? It’s worth the risk of permanent paralysis!

I don’t know about jarbaby, but I happen to really like hockey players [sub]wink wink, nudge nudge [/sub]

Well, Toronto lost this oh-so-precious first game of the season. If you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go get blind stinking drunk until we win a game.

Bah…Blues did not loose “a lot of their depth”, and will people already shut up about our goaltending situation, we’ll be fine, just fine and dandy and if neither of the young studs do the job, then we’ll probably snag Richter by the trade deadline. We’re gona have a phenomenal 1st line(young, weight, tkachuk) and a talented 2nd line to boot(demitra, stillman, corso/drake/valarmov). I’m not gona even bother tellin you guys about the depth of our lower 2 lines. The D…well damn…the D is the BEST in the NHL, i dare anyone to refute that. All these just add up to one thing…a deep run into the playoffs, who gives a flying fruit truck about where we finish in the regular season, as long as we make the playoffs, we’re freakin butter. What we may have lost in “depth”, we’ve sure as hell gained in playoff experience, grit, and leadership. Although i’m sad to see young guys like Hecht(who will be an all-star, if not this year, but in years followings),Reasoner(sorry Oiler fans, this kid may have talent, but he can’t play D that well and doesn’t have much of a work ethic, why else would Quenville finally give up on him?), Turgeon(He was my fav blue for a long time, i was deeply saddened to see him go, but it was painfully obviously that we couldn’t afford to keep him), and Turek(you broke my heart…you czech bastard) go, i can’t wait to see what this new line up will do. LET’S DROP THE GODDAMN PUCK ALREADY!!!

They lost to the Senators!
Toronto only beats the Kanata Senators in the play offs, when it counts!

GO LEAFS GO!

Hey, quit with the sad smilie. From what I read of “Edmonton Sports Writers” they were all too happy to see him go, one writer in fact saying he would start the “Weight Sucks” chant the next time he came into town.

Sounds like you guys didn’t even want him. So there.

Yes!Yes!Yes!Yes!Yes!Yes!Yes!Yes!Yes!Yes!Yes!

We’ll survive without Weight and finish better than the Blah hawks.

The Oilers look good this year as do my beloved Habs. 5-2 in the exhibition season is a good thing.

Sure we lost to those Cowtowners last night but everyone gets lucky once in a while.

You can hit me as soon as I put on the pads.

There’s frost in the air and pretty soon they’ll be putting in the ice across the street, my skates are just a few feet way and I too am ready to watch and play the greatest game on earth.

Thank Whomever that summer is over.

YEAH!#@!@ THAT’S THE TICKET@!

Go leafs!@#

I don’t know who you are, but I like you.

<sigh> I miss having money so that I can play. <sob>

Oh well… this is definately the best time of year. Hockey, Football, Pennant Races… and NO FRIKKEN BASKETBALL!

I just wish Forsberg will get over whatever the hell depression thingy is keeping him from suiting up and kicking some a$$.

Jarbaby… I share your hatred of Yzerman, and I don’t have any anti-Michigan stories. I just hate the Red Wings for the bunch of cheap shot artists they are. (I didn’t used to feel this way, until I saw Yzerman slash Kariya (I think) during a timeout-- while Kariya was just skating to the bench!!) (And by the way, you can post topless anytime you want, just let me know so I can reply accordingly.)

Anyway… GO AVS! I don’t know that I see Cup #2 coming, but it is going to to be a fun year.

Dark Horse–Kings. They played Awesome at the end of last year and the Av’s barely got out alive!

Screeme, I got mine at the local used sporting goods place for only 40 bucks! Do they have a Play It Again Sports or similar type place near you?

Oh, you’re just pissed because the Bulls suck now.

Of course, Houston has sucked for several years, and Hakeem just went to…Toronto. :shudder:

Carry on, hockey fans. I’ll just wait until November.
