We do… but theres a couple of problems with that. There’s only one that consistently has any hockey stuff, and the quality stuff gets picked over and taken FAST! If you’re not there at the right time you only have some cheesy street gear or kiddy stuff to choose from. Besides, I play goalie, so I still end up having to pay out the rear no matter what. Secondly-- For the most part gear is not my problem (Have a helmet/blocker/chest & arm pad/leg pads/hockey pants. No catcher or good helmet) so much as the $400/season it costs to play on a team. I just don’t have that kinda cash right now. (Right now that’s 2/3 of one paycheck…) I know they’ll give me a break since I’m a goalie… but still, I just don’t have it right now. <sigh again>
Someday… I WILL play again… women will swoon, shutdowns will ensue and all will be right with the world.
Screeme - I’ve been playing for a while now. It doesn’t bring the ladies gathering around. You know how women are - utterly incapable of recognizing a wonderful thing when it skates by.
You’ll probably be even worse off - wearing a mask; wearing gear that renders you formless.
Guess the women up this’n way just expect their men to be hockey players. Or at least to kill fish and wildlife, and wear flannel.
Play because it’s the greatest sport on the planet!
(Check online for hockey gear. You can find some deals that beat your local sporting goods store hands down, especially on goalie stuff.)
