Interesting. I probably have most of the games that are on sale anyways.
Thanks for the info! This should help me finish rounding out my wishlist-library.
I think I have reached the point where I no longer have specific games in mind but I will probably pick up a few more things before its all over.
Next Car Game is on a flash sale for 3 more hours. It’s by the people who made the Flatout series - same idea, just much better technology. I don’t generally like to grab early access games, but I’m going to eventually grab it anyway unless it completely bombs, so I might as well get it at a good price. I’ll be hosting SDMB games for it whenever it’s in a polished state.
Anyone played The Secret World? It looks interesting. The Flash sale ends in a couple of hours.
Holy carp, that thing’s over 18Gb!
There’s a Massive Edition that’s 30.
Shoot, I thought that was the one I bought … well, maybe just as well.
Yay Kerbal Space Program! Banner Saga also seems interesting. Plus thanks to Sr. Beef’s relentless evangelism I picked up Mount and Blade a couple days ago.
I know it’s a bit late, but I want to endorse Endless Space (and the Disharmony DLC). It’s kind of a spiritual successor to the Master of Orion series. It’s not as complex as I’d like, but still quite fun.
Also, for those trying out Terraria (it might be a flash sale a few hours after this post), be sure to bookmark this Terraria Wiki. It’s really quite handy. You can also talk to the Guide and he can tell you what you can make from what, but tabbing out to the wiki is generally quicker.
Anyone tried Maia?
Really productive sale for me (not sure that is quite the right word given the amount of time I am about to pour into these games but…). Picked up a bunch of games I have had my eye on for a long time and got them all for under $10 each, many for under $5 each.
Some highlights:
Saints Row IV
Arkham Origins
Transformers War for Cybertron
Gone Home
Remember Me
Mirror’s Edge (BTW if anyone bought Mirror’s edge and finds the game crashes on start up, the issue is the resolution settings in the game’s ini file don’t match your actual settings. I had this happen).
A bunch of others but those were impulse buys.
Without giving away spoilers, am I correct that Kentucky Route Zero is like playing a novel or playing a good episode of the X-Files? It reminded me of the text-based games of old.
GDI; The few times a game I actually want has shown up in this sale, it’s been in the losing side of a community vote.
Warning
Star Wars: Battlefront II is part of the current Flash Sale. Do not buy at any price; when you try to activate the game, you will be informed they are “Out of Keys,” or at least they were as of about a month ago when I bought it from Steam. Occasionally (about once a year it looks like) they get more keys from the publisher.
Last couple days have been rather high prices. I like $5 and below. Only thing is see today is Dishonored for $5, great deal.
Best thing I’ve picked up so far is State of Decay. Amazing zombie survival game. Part GTA, part L4D, part Dead Island, and a little strategy thrown in. Combine that with great look and feel and it’s been keeping me up to 2AM a couple nights.
Bwahahaha the nice MailLady dropped of my 2 new 3Tb disk drives, Steam do your worst.
Well I guess it’s actually it’s only 5 Tb new since I have to pull my oldest 400Gb and 600Gb to have enough SATA plugs.
Opinions on Banished? Looks fun, but I’ve read it can be infinitely frustrating and impossibly difficult. Again, if it were a few more dollars cheaper I’d probably just pick it up, but even these sales prices in the past few days aren’t discounted enough.
Now they’re just laughing at us!!!
Selling You Need a Budget for $15
I had a budget before this bleeping sale started!!!
Banished is excellent. It can be tricky at first before you get the hang of things, but it’s far from impossibly difficult.
