Crusader Kings II is on sale, all DLC included, for $16. If you like in-depth grand strategy history games, it’s a great choice.
Bought CK II. Not sure if I should have got EU IV instead, but I’m going to make a point out of playing it at least 40 hours. That’s how long the tutorial takes, right?
Also picked up Banished.
Yup.
On that note, I bought my husband and I copies of Goat Simulator when it was 40% off. I believe the gift message I sent to him was, “Because goats. XOXOXO, [me]” (Beer might have been involved in that.)
GTA IV is on sale.
WARNING do not buy this if you have a gaming laptop with two video cards (i.e. gaming GPU plus generic Intel graphics). It will ignore your settings and insist on trying to run on the lower powered card with 800x600 graphics.
Can anybody here that played both tell me how the Director’s cut of Deus EX: HR differs from the original. Is there enough new content to make it worthwhile for someone who has finished the original to re-buy?
I think: base game + Missing Link expansion + DLC weapons and such + newer content like “several new Neural Hub features, including touchscreen hacking, interactive map editing, augmented sniping, smart vision plus, throwback explosives, inventory and augmentation management, and the possibility to play the entire game on the GamePad screen.”
Some stuff is for WiiU version, and doesn’t seem to work for PC, e.g. gamepad and maybe touchscreen.
Missing Link was decent, no comment on the newer stuff. I personally don’t like some of the DLC that much (more inventory junk). The game itself is good.
The tutorial is pretty lame. Google around for some better ones. And yes, like all Paradox games, it’s ridiculously deep, and the learning curve is brutal.
I’m grabbing Payday 2 for $6 and I’ll be organizing games.
I found this YouTube tutorial and the ensuing series to be excellent. It’s a complete walkthrough of a game starting in Ireland. The videos are up to an hour long, but he’s very good about describing what you should do and why without going deep into the minutiae, letting you figure out the small details yourself.
I found CK2 to have the brutal learning curve, but it’s really not as deep as it initially seems. Once you figure out basically what you’re supposed to do, you find out a lot of it is literally just a waiting game.
And here I thought I was the only nutter to jump on that one.
The patch notes alone are hilarious - a sample:
The biggest changes with the Director’s Cut is that the Missing Link DLC has been integrated into the main game and the boss fights have been completely redone. I’d like to emphasize that last bit: the boss fights have been rejiggered such that you can now win using a stealth/hacker build.
Thanks, picked it up at 50%.
I take that back, since I found a fix:
I’ve never been able to get GTA IV to work. I’ve done all the fixes I could find on the internet, re-installed GFWL, changed my Rockstar Social Club password, run as administrator, run in compatibility mode, monkeyed with the settings and configuration files, nothing’s worked. Farthest I’ve gotten is the main menu, clicking “Start New Game,” and then I just get an endless slideshow. The actual game never starts.
Oh well.
FINALLY they put Broken Age on sale! I’ve been wanting to check this game out since I first saw it a couple of months ago; it’s freaking beautiful and seems to have an awesome story contained within.
But for me, the best sale of the year happened just now because WOOT! they made a Mac client for Goat Simulator! Oh yeah! Best $6 I’ll spend all year, I’ll betcha!
We play Chivalry a few times a month still, so grab that if you’re interested. Might as well grab the $7 package with deadliest warrior too.
Does anyone want a free copy of Payday 2 or Left 4 Dead 2? I picked up the 4 packs but only had two friends, so PM me if you’re interested.
What’s your Steam or group name?
Payday 2 is claimed. L4D2 is still available.
You know you went crazy with the sale when your credit card calls you to make sure there wasn’t any fraud…I think I’ll save the Baldur’s Gate remake for the winter sale…
