Its not much but its gonna be ours (and the banks). Its got some butt ugly colors on the walls and need carpeting but its gonna be OUR butt ugly wall color. Least till I can get to the paint department and choose colors I like.
One minute I’m drawing out floor plans for furniture arrangement, next I’m freaking out, then looking at paint colors and finishes online.
Deep breath! I am so excited!
Anyone wanna help put in 1800 sq ft of drop ceiling. Hehehehe
Ya. Been a life long renter. But we are sort of newly weds (1 year) and aren’t kids anymore. Time to grow up settle down and raise Monk with a room that will be hers forever (or at least till she’s 18)
Congrats! Us too, our offer was accepted a week ago. Looks like there’s a lot of us taking the plunge for the first time around here. Maybe we should form a support group.
Congratulations all new homeowners! My husband and I are planning to buy in the next couple of months…it will be my first home, so I’m giddy. He has done this before, so is less excited because he knows the stress.
I’ve been watching the market for about a year now, and have seen larger houses coming on the market, closer to our optimal location and within our budget. We feel like we are finally in the right position at the right time. You know those people who say things like “I bought my house back in '85 for $53,000, and now its worth $1.2 million!” We hope we’re going to be those people in 20 years.
It really is a good time to get out there if you can. Although I was amazed at some of the piles of crap that some people were asking $120K for. Those are going to sit for a looooong time in this market.
It’s funny, I saw on the news a sob story about someone buying a house for $X and now it’s worth about 1/3$X. Like this was some kind of tragedy. Excuse me, I didn’t know it was a God-given right that all your investments would increase in value perpetually. My advice, don’t sell it today. Wait until the value comes back up. IANAFA, just a happy first-time homeowner.
Congrads to all the new home buyers. I believer the market will come back, not the way it was but with sence this time. When you have to put down 60% on a piece of property so it will neutral cash flow, the price is to high or the rents too low or both.
Wow cool. Lots of fellow dopers taking the plunge into debt.
I’m all for the idea of a support group. I could use someone to talk me down from some of those impulse decorating purchases. Or to at least notify the design fashion police and let them know I may be attempting decorating suicide using lime green curtains.
