I am so going to make some sort of Nick Cage joke the next time I’m bitching about this movie. Thank you.
You and me both, brother. (Sister?) What is not to love about this? As previously mentioned, TSUNAMI over HIMALAYAS. Crap crashing into other crap and blowing up! People trying to outrun tidal waves and seismic shocks…and succeeding!
I hope to be able to go on opening night.
Wait a minute… are you all saying that the movie is not realistic? It’s not scientifically accurate? There’s no plot?
Can I order a ticket now or do I have to wait?
Too bad Patrick Swayze’s dead.
Not to mention cheaper.
Well done.
How do you think he REALLY died hmmm ?
I saw an earlier trailer with, I believe, Woody Harrleson
explaining how neutrinos from the sun pass through the Earth, but catch and build up in the core until the world flips its crust…
At the risk of being whooshed… Didn’t he direct all of the modern Mummy films?
Poe’s Law as applied to over-the-top action movies-having only caught one little snippet of a commercial for the film in question I have no idea which of the above scenes are actually from the movie and which ones were made up on the spot by snarky Dopers…
The Nostalgia Critic hits on the appeal in his Godzilla review. Emmerich movies are the worst kind of popular tripe, but the trailers are just so damn awesome at whipping up interest. (Of course, I actually really like Stargate and ID4, but hey.)
Am I the only one who desperately wishes someone on YouTube would set this shit to Yakety Sax?
As for the movie itself, two questions. Is it complete shit? Will I see it opening night?
The answer to both is “yes”.
My bad. He directed the first two and produced The Scorpion King and the latest one. Not like that sweetens the deal.
I definately have to see this. I want to know what the alien guys from “Earth Final Conflict” are doing in this movie.
Exactly, well said.
I will see this and will probably enjoy it a great deal. At the very least I will admire the brilliant skill and talent of everyone involved in creating these images of epic disaster for our popcorn-crunching enjoyment.
That was awesome!
Oh, and thanks for turning me on to the Incredible Bongo Band – just seeded a Pandora channel with them, and will be mixing in a bit of P-Funk and Antibalas to steer it into funky goodness.
It’s disaster porn. There will be no plot other than 'destroy everything in a exciting and visually interesting way". It’s a Syfy Friday night disaster flick with a real budget and name actors. Which is not a bad thing. Plot and acting would get in the way of the effects.
Those actors are in it or is this some other reference?
If you watch this trailer you’ll notice that not only are the Talons in it, but so are their spaceships apparently.
How freak’n classic is that?
