There’s a commercial on TV right now advertising a CD full of ‘your favourite hymns’. Not being a god-person, there’s only one hymn I like: Jerusalem. Anyway, they open the commercial with Holy, Holy, Holy. Every time I hear it I can’t help but think
Holy, holy, holy!
Pass the guacamole!
Actually, as a Navy brat, I do also like The Navy Hymn. As a pilot, I also like the Air Force version.
Is there a question here?
My $.02 - You know you’ve been watching the same channel TOO much when out of work for 10 months when you start remembering the order of the cheesy country clips played during the adds for “great country/bluegrass of the 60’s”…
“I wish that I was on ol’ Rocky Top, back in the Tennessee hills…” then cut to “NORTH, to Alaska… NORTH, the race is on…”
The worst part is that I’ve now got both of these clips going in my head, don’t know any more of the songs, and don’t like country music anyway!!!

Not being a god person either, I still own three sets of Gospel recordings that I consider a must for any collection:
Elvis: the Complete Gospel Recordings (actually a copy of the original which I gave my sister)- pricey, but great. My only complaint is that I know I’ve heard the King sing a slow version of “Softly and Tenderly” that isn’t on here.
Tennessee Ernie Ford: The Complete Hymns- man what a voice.
*The Carter Family *- not gospel per se, more folk, but with lots of gospel included.
And now you’re making me think of teeth.
After that, I’ll think of Billy Joel’s And So It Goes. Then back to Emerson, Lake, and Palmer for about 40 minutes.
“Is that Freedom Rock? Well, turn it up, man!”
You should be thinking of buying a mattress!
Mom told me her Presbyterian choir had big trouble with a hymn that sang, “sleeps not, slumbers not.” When they sang it, it sounded like, “sleep snot, slumber snot.” They settled on only two of the singers sounding the “s” at the end of “sleeps” and “slumbers.” That sounded about right.
The things you learn from amateur showbiz.
I’m a hardcore atheist, but I get all weepy and goosebumpy from The Old Rugged Cross.
