You should play, McUne! I just looked at my list from last year - I had 28. If you don’t want to send to that many people, you can just tell me your limit. It’s really fun to get cards from all over the place.
Sorry you have to fire people, ems; at least this time it sounds like it’s deserved.
It was yet another long day at work, made longer by the commute home. There was an accident which had traffic all jacked up. Of course, even before I got to the accident site, some idjit decided he had to do 15 M.P.H. He did this for four miles. Arrrgh. I wanted to ram the shit out of his car. I couldn’t pass because I was in a no passing zone, and oncoming traffic wouldn’t have allowed it anyway.
Ah well, I’m home now and that’s all that counts, right?
I hope all you sickies get to feeling better. My daughter stayed home from school today. She has the same crud I had, which isn’t a good thing. I know exactly how miserable she is. I have a feeling my son may be coming down with it too. He’s sitting at the other computer bundled up in a blanket with a thick hoodie and long sleeved shirt on underneath (pants too, of course). He claims he can’t get warm.
**Mr. Taters ** is off at the Y working out. I should probably make some sort of dinner, although I really don’t have any appetite.
GT, I decided to join. I’m already working on designing a card. I’m excited about this! I was just thinking the other day how fun it would be to make V-day cards.
MMMMMMMMs it just sucks to have to fire somebody even if’n they deserve it. Just lettin’ ya know I feel for ya. I am at the point in my life where I hope I never have to be in that position again.
Howdy Y’all! Home from work for good now. Ok, been home for a bit but just now gettin’ around to postin’. I sold me some more inshurnce tonight. I’m tellin’ y’all it’s a hoot. I’m good at it too! I sold two policies. Two of the managers (not my bosses) were listenin’ in on me while I was sellin’. They called me “slick”.
See, there’s this script thing we use and apparently I have mastered the art of usin’ it pretty good. Hence “slick”. It actually means they were impressed at how good I am talkin’ to people. Makes me feel good. Specially since today I had to get all “QA” on some people, meanin’ I had to talk to people about rewriting some of their applications because of some missin’ stuff which means they had to get back in touch with customers and re-record (we record applications taken over the phone to ensure all the legal stuff happens) the applications. That’s a tough thing to do because, a. ya gotta get in touch with folks which may mean several calls, b. you have to reassure the customer that nothing is “wrong” just some extra info is needed, and iii. no pay for the sale will come forth until stuff is fixed. But hey, better me catchin’ that stuff than the folks in Underwriting. They get all medieval on butts about stuff. I’m nice, dammit!
Ok, methinks it may be beerverage then beddy bye time. I talked with ol’ y’all know who already and he’s all nighty nite, so I shall shortly be all nighty nite.
Nighty Nite Y’all!
ETA: MCUNE you are way too creative. You make me tired just reading about the stuff you do.
Sounds like at least one birthday gal had a good time tonight. Wonder where the missing Kai is? Hope she’s celebrating!
I’m in on the Valentine’s exchange too–my daughter and I had such fun making the cards last year! We’re going to try to be a bit more creative this year, I think. And it was super fun to get all those cards!! Wee!
It’s -almost- Firday! Do I sound too exuberant?! Oh yes, I also have already filed my federal return, online–using one of the free file sites (the threshold is 54K this year, folks). Unfortunately, it wasn’t the one I used last year; they’re not on the list this year! Heh, they probably didn’t get enough people paying to file their state returns. In Maryland, you can file online for free, right on the Comptrollers website!
Hope your kitty is okay, mmmmmms, and hope that Miss Scarlett is doing better too for MBG.
tarr - I heard we should wait until Feb 15 to file with TurboTax and similar this year. There are changes in the tax laws that didn’t come out until December, and might affect the software. YMMV, of course - it’s all hearsay.
Well I certainly see her point. Chicken pox are indiscriminate and delight in your shame and embarrassment. You can’t go out in public because you look like plague – not that you’d want to anyway because you feel like plague. Itchy plague. And it leaves scars if you’re not careful. (I wasn’t. I have a few.) Satan himself wards pox carriers off with a crucifix. Its only mercy is only attacking you once.
Dang, but I’m tahred. I think I need to hit the sack.
Y’all get well and get yourself some more “Me” time!
**{{{ems}}} **-- I know what you mean. Firing an OK person, even if they screwed up on the job, is not fun. Have I ever mentioned that’s probably the prime reason I’ve stepped back from doing any “real” management?
Also, hope Libby’s OK. Yours too, **MBG **(can’t remember the name right now? :o)
I may join the V-day exchange this year, too. Thinking about it.
Oh, and while I think not many people have noticed, we have at least one birthday for the third day running! Happy Birthday McUNE!!!
I get to drive to Jerusalem this evening to pick up Special Teen and her first term report card. Rumors have it that I will be one unabashedly proud father later today!
**Dotty **-- take care in Riyadh. Not that I know of anything right now, but the whole situation in the Gaza Strip, culminating in the Hamas vs. Egypt showdown at Rafah yesterday, could blow up and cause some ugliness in the Arab world.
Rebo, there were some last minute changes to certain tax forms; it only affects you if you need to use those forms - and yes, if you do, you should wait until mid-February to file (unfortunately!). The efile sites can sometimes be hard to work with - the software doesn’t like some characters and sometimes they don’t explain what they really want you to enter; I worked with it, though, and got it to go.
I’m up and caffeinating early this morning, and will try to get in early as well. Woo hoo! laughs No, I’m not anxious to get to work, but am thinking of making a bit of credit time. Happy Thursday all; one more day until Firday!
Dunnow, but whatever happens I want pics.
I have a minijob for today which I’m not being able to do because the login info they sent me was wrong and the sender is in a meeting, as well as two interviews for bigger projects. I’s nervous.
Morning all! Today the uni wants to pay me to walk around campus delivering committee papers. It’s relatively mild, the sun’s shining…what’s not to like? I have spent an hour tootling around with large envelopes full of boring stuff, now I’m back in the office and planning a nice cup of tea. Then I’ll start on today’s four urgent jobs, and then it’ll be time for lunch with a couple of friends.
I’ve not broken the bad news to Tin Knickers yet, but today I’m having a whole hour for lunch (N.O.L. unless he’s a very lucky boy and CutiePie has finished with him). Yes. A whole hour. There’s gossiping to be done.
Oh, and this afternoon I have to find time to finish completing a job application for another uni. It’s all part of my plan to make TK realise how much she’ll miss me when I’m gone.
Or you could, y’know, get over and take pictures yourself. Maybe even forget about the pics and just experience things firsthand
Ugh. There’s only one chance to make a good first impression, and it looks like this mini-employer won’t even give you that one. This truly doth sucketh
Shouldn’t that be “having **Lunch **for a whole hour” then?
And **Cutie **-- you can try to kill me, I may even enjoy the ensuing er… scuffle.
