I was almost unable to post due to a schnoodle laying his cute little head on the laptop. I’m back in PieLand today due to a gross miscommunication between me and my dad. And, the fact that the health department will be in Tuesday for the every 6 months routine inspection. I’m going to try to make the most of the day by going supply shopping in Cleveland with one of my employees. Although, I’d rather be in TVLand…
Went out for chinese food with a friend last night, and I now have two meals sitting in my refrigerator. Restaurant portions are so large that we both only ate half of what they gave us, and she said I could keep her leftovers (mmmm…beef with broccoli).
Other than a quick trip to Borders to use up some gift cards and take advantage of a 30% off any item certificate, nothing planned for today but housecleaning. I have gor to get my dining room table cleared off. Tomorrow afternoon my friend and I will be going to see Cats, which she’s never seen.
I am old. How can I be hungover from 2–count 'em–2 beers, one of which I didn’t even finish? I think it’s not a hangover; I think it’s my sinuses. I’m going with that.
(with all my drinking in college-and believe me, I excelled at drinking, I only ever had one hangover. I’ve only had 2 hangovers in my life. Both made me want to die and never drink again. The trick is to sleep long enough…)
salutes you I have enormous respect for anyone who doesn’t pass out in a medical emergency. All of you can have a beerverage on me. (And pick up that mind that’s in the gutter while you’re at it. )
All this talk of Burns dinners make me want to reread The Cat Who… series. Qwilleran goes to a Burns dinner in one book (I think it was The Cat Who Wasn’t There.)
Dotty: Another vote for new job. If they wanted to keep you so damn bad, they would have realized this before now. Sounds to me like they just don’t want to have to find someone new to fill the position. You Have The Power (of Greyskull!)
…or what gt said. She’s more eloquent than I am.
Good lord, Taters! Tell your brain to send good chaotic signals in REM tonight!
And while we’re speaking of brains, the people on That Forum really need to wash theirs, doncha think Haze?
I love the second picture, LiLi. Kitty says “I don’t wanna move. My warm spot.”
Hi’s to everyone else. And now it’s time for LAUNDRY!
After a short perusal of my domicile, I find I must forage for food elsewhere.

Well, I was going to hear people talk about gardens, but TPTB had other ideas. I was about 1/2 a mile from my exit and all of a sudden the road got really bumpy. I then realized that it was my car and not the road.   Fortunately, I was in the right lane and was able to pull over safely. My tire had blown out and was in shreds. AAA came in about 20 minutes and the guy put the temporary spare on. (I was too rattled to even think of changing it myself.) I’ve now driven home - very slowly, the back way - the guy said no more than 50 miles at a max of 50 mph). I’m now about to look for the nearest NTB; I’m pretty sure I know where it is, but I don’t want to guess.
Hugs to all. I see you located the party mood, rigs. Sorry about the sinuses.
Thanks!
I’m not planning a whole lot of anything today. I’m going to see the marvelous Veronica for a massage at 1, then come home and commence sloth.
Moments ago, Bear licked up the coffee ring from the kitchen island where my cup sloshed. Perfect. Just what THIS cat needs is caffeine. He gets in these running moods and even Cuervo has to just stand there and stare.
I’ve decided I’m just going to ignore it and let it go. I think gardentraveler is probably right, and me reacting to the whole thing would probably just make it worse.
Friends and I went to a place last night with amazing pizza and cheap drinks. We started of with shots of Jager on an empty stomach, which was not the best way to start the evening, but we managed to stay pretty civilized.
Rigs… *now *you tell me you’re willing to shop for everybody? You couldn’t have mentioned that before I emptied the neighborhood supermarket Firday morning?
It’s not too late though… maybe I can get **Spaz **or **Haze **to do the laundry for me…?
**GT **-- Glad you came out of this just short a tire and missing a meeting! Blowouts on the highway can get to be NOT pretty!
Oh, and Cutie?
You couldn’t pull that off if it had a rip-cord attached to it…
Good morning everyone! I didn’t have any crazy dreams last night, thank goodness.
Today is my and Mr. Taters 22nd wedding anniversary. Later today, we’re meeting his mother and mine for lunch. This evening he and I will probably go to dinner and a movie. We’ll see. We’re both pretty tired, actually. I didn’t really want to do the lunch thing, but there really wasn’t any polite way to say no. Besides, tomorrow is MIL’s birthday.
There really isn’t much else going on. No snow yet. I’m thinking we probably won’t get any in this area.
Happy Anniversary Taters!!! I hope you have a nice day!
rigs, while you’re at the store can you buy me a value-pack of cheese triangles (you know, the Vache qui Rit ones)? Noor loves them and I forgot to get any yesterday!
gt, I’m glad you’re safe. Tyre/tire blowouts can be really dangerous, particularly at speed!
Well, after much soul-searching and discussion with hubby (he helps clear my thoughts and focus on what’s important), I have decided to stick with my original plan and go for the new job. I could have got my boss to pay me an extra $10-15k/year, but y’all are probly right about money not buying a happy work environment. The other catch was the subtle “with extra money comes a requirement for extra flexibility”, i.e. we would want you to go back to working 9-7 at least, and probably 9-9 when it’s busier. Not worth the extra cash, particularly when you consider the key reason for me looking elsewhere (other than the bee-yotch) was to find a better work-life balance!
Okay, I think I better get my butt into the kitchen and cook my fettucine with chicken in a basil cream pesto! Then, I think I will celebrate with a glass (or two) of port!
Haze - that would piss me off mightily. I know we’re not supposed to utter the name of The Board We Shall Not Name - but could somebody pm the name of it? I’m just curious.
I’ve been up since 5:30 - I watched a movie I got in the discount bin a while back called About a Boy. It stars Hugh Grant as a bachelor who pretends to be a single parent to meet women - it’s hilarious! I highly recommend it.
Fixed and ate breakfast, then went to Half-Price Bookstore. I scored a brand new Stephen King hardback I have never heard of called Duma Key. And a bunch of other 50 cent paperbacks. I even cleaned out the bookcase and boxed up a bunch to take back and sell to them. I should have done that before I went, now that I think of it! :smack:
So I settled in to read the Dope, and the dogs started whining. I was going to take them for a walk, but instead they about ran me ragged around the block. And me with my sore ankle… oh, well. They probably have cabin fever - it’s been raining for a solid week here. Today is gorgeous!!! (Even if everything is soggy.)
Ok - I better go do some laundry.
Later, gators!
ETA: Hi LiLi! No cake, but I have some bread pudding made with leftover cinnamon buns! :: shoves some thru the CD drive::
I am almost caught up. Well, I speed read through.
Dotty I agree with hubby - move on.
Taters congrats on 22 years that is quite an achievement.
Haze ignore it.
rigs put me down for onions, peppers, sweet potatos and I need a small bottel of bleach.
gt scary stuff but glad you are OK
LiLi adorable baby. I am happy he is sleeping and eating and growing well.
I spent 9 hours yesterday either in meetings or driving to meetings. I was done in last night and I still feel drained from this week
Libby the Crazy Kitty is much better. On Thursday night she ate the treats I left out for her and when I put fresh food out yesterday morning she dived right in. By this morning she had eaten almost 3/4 cup of dry food. She also scared the living daylights out me last night. I was watching TV in bed and I must have been dozing and she jumped on my chest. I don’t know who was more scared - me that a crazy creature was attempting to kill me or Libby at the scream that I made because a crazy creature was attempting to kill me.
She woke me up at 6.30 this morning wanting to play and have breakfast so I think she is feeling a little better.
Well I am at work trying to catch up on what I didn’t do yesterday.
Happy Taterversary!!!<flinging confetti with wild and reckless abandon>
**Dotty ** - good choice. You know you don’t want to stay. Movin’ on up and all that! YAY!
Back from maulin’ - since our 'lectric blankies both died (suspicious, ya think?? :dubious: ) we went in search of heated mattress pads. The only place we could find 'em was at Penney’s, and tho they were a wee bit pricier than I’d hoped, it wasn’t obscenely so. Plus as we walked thru the men’s department, FCD saw some shirts, originally $42, on clearance for $7.49 each. He got 5 - saved us, um, well, cost us $37.50, because we’d not have bought them at full price anyway. But how can you *not * buy St. John’s Bay flannel shirts for $7.49?? I ask ya!!
We flipped our mattress and remade the bed with the new heated pad - yay! Then we replaced the guest bed blanket with the new pad, so we’re ready for the visit by the kid next month. Or any other visitors we have in the interim.
I’ve got laundry started, and that should pretty much make up the rest of my day. That and bagging the sketty sauce I made yesterday. And maybe running the vacuum. And emptying the dishwasher. Pretty slack overall.
gt, I’m glad you weren’t hurt. Blown tires suck. I had one blow on me in the left lane of I-5. It was pretty frickin’ scary. I wasn’t hurt, and the nice Washington State Patrol officer helped me change my tire.
Haze, I gotta say that really sucks. I’d be pissed too.
Still no snow, though they’re still threatening us with it. It’s raining right, although it’s a sleety type of rain. Supposedly, we’re supposed to see the real snow tonight. Again, I’ll believe it when I see it.
I guess I should get cleaned up. Well, crud, hubby is in the shower, and son just got out. I’ll have to wait for a few so I have hot water. My son takes loooooong showers.
