Heh, if I had known that he was taking the shower, I would have stopped him.

Oh well, just a few more minutes and I should be able to shower.

Happy Anniversary to the Taterses!!!

Thanks for the good wishes, everyone. It wasn’t nearly as scary as I would have thought. Or at least not while I was driving. I’d always had the impression that my car would be hard to control. It really wasn’t. I didn’t feel terribly rattled, but I must have been, because I told the AAA operator that I was on a different highway than I actually was. some more. She called me back when the mile marker I gave her didn’t jive with the exit info.

I went with all-new tires, since the girl at NTB told me that the tires were manufactured in 2004, which tells me the car dealer put them on just before I bought the car and that they were probably the cheapest possible. Also, I’d rather know exactly how old they are. And I’d had a couple of minor issues with them before. I went with mid-range tires that are guaranteed for 70,000 miles; that should cover me for the rest of my ownership of the car. They also changed the oil and flushed the coolant while I was there.

Now I’ve stopped at Wild Oats for a few necessities and had lunch and am contemplating running a few errands.

Back after the errands…

Happy Anniversary, Taters!

Rebo, “Duma Key” is the new Stephen King book–it just came out! And it got a pretty good review in the Wash. Post book section, so there is that. I haven’t much liked his more recent books, so maybe this one will be better.

Dotty, in this case, sounds like hubby knows best. At any rate, best wishes!

Went to Target today, and I don’t want to reveal what the exit fee was. LOL There were several things that I wanted to get and today I just got them. I even got some new earrings!

Tonight, I’m going to have some tandoori chicken, which means I’ll be making some chapatis to go with it. YUM!

Just walked the doggies - it’s brisk out there!! I got a little nervous because one neighbor’s dog was out, but it just sat on the porch, so that worked.

Third load of laundry is in the washer. That’s all I’ve done so far. Oh, except for starting a fire. It was cold in here, now it’s less cold.

Yep, excitement at FairyChatEstates…

Oh, forgot about Duma Key. Yes, it sounds like it’s a lot better than the last one. I’ve read a couple of reviews on GoodReads and they’re much much much more positive than for his last book.

I’m semi-fond of being able to Bluetooth my phone to my Mac and have it all just know how to take my Address Book on the Mac and sync it to the phone. Some sort of It Just Works black magic there.

As for the phone virus, well… You didn’t ask me if such things exist. They’re actually getting distressingly common as more and more phones get “smart” and run an actual operating system like Windows CE or Symbian. Typical behaviors are to send your contacts list to someone else, and/or trash it entirely, or run up big bills by accessing premium services, just to irritate you.

In much sillier news, I saw an ad for some upcoming sports event on TV and was amused at the prospects of guys snowboarding on their foreskins. Brrr! It was the “Extreme Uncut Snowboarding” event. Probably has nothing to do with foreskins, but it was still a strange concept.

What is wrong with my wife???

I 'splained to her earlier that today was today is my day of complete uselessness. I come home from my massage, and what’s waiting for me?

Stuff To Do.

Glad to hear Libby’s doing better ems. Only Marty is still sneezy here but I’m giving him some extra time since he’s the oldest. Scarlett absolutely refuses to eat her special food, unless it’s mixed with something supposedly more yummy.

Happy 'Versary Taters!!!

::waving::

Too tired. Just got home from spending $850 on groceries and supplies.

I have been semi productive at work. I only have 3 more manager appraisals to do - I have done 10 of them this morning.

I am then reviewing manager for a bunch but on our system they are much easier to complete than manager stuff.

I then took the on call engineer and manager out for yummy mexican food for lunch. We went to a little local place where not only is it cheap and delicious with excellent service but they also have the Mom of the owner making fresh tortillas to order!

mmmmmmm home made tortillas!

I just washed my comforter in the bathtub and sweet Jesus I feel like I’ve just run a marathon. I think it was trying to kill me. I wrestled it into the dryer by the skin of my teeth. It’s a miracle I’m alive to tell the tale.

The Pioneer Woman just posteda new recipe that sounds ridiculously decadent. Good Lord. I don’t have any chicken legs though. I might try it with thighs.

Looks good, but it seems like there must be a better way. Kinda like there are a few too many steps.

I think her recipes tend to look more troublesome than they are because she uses so many photos. For that recipe all you really have to do is heat up the sauce, coat the chicken, and then stick the legs into the oven.

The only one of her recipes I found to be much too labor intensive was her Bacon-Jalapeno appetizers. They were a huge hit, but SO much trouble to make.

Yeah, I was thinking maybe that the whole thing could be accomplished in a microwaveable measuring cup.

The jalapeno thingys sound good.

Done with my appraisals - well almost.

I have one left to do and it is the most difficult one - my problem child who can’t make a damn decision, has no leadership skills or management skills has massive discipline problems in her group that I have to fix and should not have been put in this job in the first place! It is not entirely her fault I have tried to coach and help her but she will not take suggestion or direction but man my grasp of the English language has escaped me and I can’t figure out a way to tactfully say it all that will forever stay with her in for personnel file. I like her personally and she isn’t a bad employee but she is in the wrong job. Bugger.

So I am going to take my laptop and head home. Maybes a nap will help clarify the situation

I was more productive than I thought - 5 loads of laundry today! The last one (towels) is in the dryer. Three more for tomorrow - oh yes, the fun never ends…

It’s toasty warm in here - we’ve got a nice hot fire, and the ceiling fan is moving the air around nicely. Too bad it won’t move the warmth to the bedroom half of the house. Then again, we’ve got a brand new heated mattress pad back there (warming the sheets as I write this.)

That’s all. Nice dull day.

Chicken’s in the oven. Hope it’s good, because

  1. I am starving
  2. I have drinking plans, which means I need food in my stomach :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi, all. I think I’m kinda caught up since I posted Thursday; I missed Firday altogether, still not feeling all that wonderful – I still get these dizzy spells if I move too suddenly, which suggests that my inner ear still hasn’t decided it likes me again – so spent the day kinda goofing off. Today at least I’m feeling semi-human, and it’s definitely time I rejoin the world. Well, the “working” part of it, anyway; the ol’ paycheck is gonna hurt fer sher. :frowning:

Anyway, put me down for dog food, dishwashing liquid (not for the dishwasher, the ordinary sink kind), and some hot chocolate mix, would you, Rigs? I’ve had a craving for hot chocolate since yesterday, but haven’t succeeded in making it to the store to get it yet.

You spent a whopping $7.49 on shirts at Penney’s, FCM? Tsk, tsk! You are not nearly the bargain shoppers Papa Tigs and I are. We’d cashed in our change at Coinstar and got a Penney’s coupon for it, so between yesterday and today we purchased:

New dress shoes for Papa Tigs
New king-sized mattress pad
2 heavy cotton bath mats
3 bath sheets
2 fleece tops w/1/4 zip neck and pockets for me
And for Papa Tigs:
2 button shirts, one red and one blue
1 chamois shirt
1 jersey shirt
1 long-sleeved polo
1 sweatshirt
2 Dockers knit shirts and
1 lovely sweater with a mock turtleneck

And what did we spend on all that, you may ask? (That’s 11 shirts/sweatshirts/ fleece tops, in case you weren’t counting.) A whopping $89! That’s right, between the coupon from Coinstar and the sales, we only had to shell out $89 total! It didn’t hurt that all but 2 of the shirts were going for $4.99, either. We didn’t plan on getting that many new shirts for Papa Tigs, but at that price, who could argue? Almost all of it is good workwear for casual days – or his upcoming 10-day trip to Orlando to a conference.

Oh, and we also bought a new mattress – ours is beyond dying, and we found on that we actually both find comfortable that was on sale. Plus Sam the salesman was delightful – 79 years old, retired at 65 but then his wife kicked him out of the house after he drove her crazy, and absolutely no concerns about trying to sell us the most expensive mattress in the store. So Wednesday night hopefully my back will stop complaining about sleeping on a saggy mattress!

Off to eat pizza. It’s nice to rejoin the world of the living!

I’d just put the chicken in a large bowl and pour the butter mixture over it that way. Brushes are too finicky for me.

I had to tell Complicated Roommate he’s pushing himself too hard. His heart’s gonna give out before his appointment in April if he doesn’t take himself off the grid for a few days. I blame his stupid, incarcerated little brother for that. I did convince him to go get some mmmmmmmmmmmmMexican for dinner. We bitched about some friends who are rapidly devolving into acquaintance territory the whole time.

Gonna foray into bang-bang video game territory in a bit.

Happy Taterversary!

Chicken wasn’t half bad, although I can see how it’d be much better with drumsticks instead of thighs.

The Pioneer Woman sure loves her butter. I’m surprised her entire family hasn’t keeled over from clogged arteries.

My life = :smack:  :smack:
