In a team of 12, have a sniper quota. 2 snipers, per team, max. That obviously doesn’t take into account damage of the other weapons and what not and the lack of recoil, but what do you think about that?

That’d help, but even non-snipers are exceedingly lethal. I can kill anyone in the game with an assault rifle on full auto at 150 yards with very little skill required, which means anyone who dares move is soon dead.

If they want sim-like lethality, then you need to counterbalance it with sim-like difficulty in shooting - no rock steady instant hitscan bullshit video game weapons.

Agreed. The lack of recoil in a lot of these games upsetting me. I don’t think it’s a console-PC thing, either. To me, it’s clearly a skilled-unskilled thing.

Call of Duty sells crazy amounts of games. Black Ops is the highest selling video game of all time, which beat the previous one, Modern Warfare 2. To me, they’re both fun games, but neither deserve that spot. They have that distinction for two reasons: they’re released on very single imaginable platform, and they’re easy and noob-friendly.

To me, Call of Duty becomes a passable game when you get rid of the equipment, perks, and killstreaks. Then again, I don’t like fun, apparently.

At first glance the patch they released today pretty massively improves things. People are getting 50%+ frame rate improvement, they put in a way to disable mouse acceleration (who the fuck wants it anyway? FFS), and snipers actually have to manage to aim to get one shot kills.

Makes me wonder - if you can release a patch in two weeks that makes things run that much smoother, then why the hell don’t you take 2 weeks out of the 2 years development cycle to do that in the first place?

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. You’re talking crazy talk now.

In my limited experience playing post-patch, the game is pretty substantially improved. The changes aside from the sniper rifles weren’t actually all that dramatic, yet the way people approach the game is totally different. People are actually out moving, taking objectives, and coordinating with their teammates, whereas before it had pretty much devolved to “join your 8 other teammates camping on sniper mountain looking at the enemy’s sniper mountain full of people doing the same thing”

I’m not actually sure the game changed enough to justify the totally different way people are playing, but based on the whiny feedback on the forums, I think that perhaps all the bush wookies quit the game when their easymode lame tactics were no longer overpowered. If so, good riddance, the game plays much better now. At least in my limited experience - maybe I just played in unusually cool games so far.
