It’s been a couple of days – I’m not going to use spoiler tags for what happened in Sunday’s episode.
At first I was kind of annoyed that she made the mistake of revealing the type of tea he drank. I thought it was out of character for her to screw up like that. But I forgave the show that once I saw the scene where she questioned him. Electrifying.
“They think I’m working for Al Qaeda?”
“I think you’re working for Al Qaeda.”
Electrifying, for sure. How refreshing that neither one of them stonewalled. Carrie didn’t try to keep up a pretense and Brody answered her questions without the standard “How dare you question me.”
I think Carrie’s slipup on the Yorkshire Gold tea was because she felt comfortable with him, as if she came by her knowledge honestly instead of through subterfuge.
You know, I actually didn’t like the twist at all. It relies on information that the viewer did not have. To me, that’s cheating. A good twist is something where the information required has been there all along and the audience just did not connect the pieces. This twist, however, relies on evidence that has been presented as true turning out to be false. It made me feel lied to rather than brilliantly misdirected.
I disagree. New facts are not a bad thing, it seems stifling to suggest otherwise. As for us being lied to, it’s instead a big point that the characters were telling the truth…as they knew it! They were the ones lied to and how they deal with that will be interesting to watch.
I had that same thought as she was running toward his car. I thought she’d tell him, and ask for his help finding the guy. And obviously, as the costar of the show, he will get that job in some way or another.
I thought that for a second as well, then I realized she gave him classified info already, by telling him about her source and his confession. Also the fact that he was the subject of an investigation is classified. All the times he was brought in were under innocent sounding pretexts.
Maybe she still doesn’t trust him. After all, Brody had told her he killed Walker. She didn’t have time to think it through, connect the dots. There are so many dots!
So at the end of this episode, did Brody admit to working with the terrorists?
I thought he said something to the effect that “I’m not working with you anymore…”
Yes, though just the fact that Brody was in the terrorist’s home was proof that he was turned after all. Whether or not he stays turned remains to be seen.
I wonder if we should have episode threads. This show is really interesting and has almost no discussion, and shows where there’s almost nothing to talk about get 5 pages.
