homosexual hobbits

One of the reasons why the animated Bakshi version of Lord of the Rings is disliked is because it unintentionally made Frodo and sam seem gay. Since I don’t plan on seeing that movie anytime soon, can somebody fill me in?

You mean gayer than the books already make them sound from a modern perspective?

as far as I know, they’re gayer in the movie than the book.

Of course, I suppose it’s impossible for two men to have a close relationship without implying a homosexual subtext. :rolleyes:

Trust me, the movies “look gayer”. At the end of the first one, you could hear fangirls all over the nation pick up their slash-writing pens.

Whee doggie!

Of course. Everyone knows that all men care about is sex, so obviously they can’t have real friendships.

I dunno… For all the many flaws of the Bakshi LotR, I don’t remember that one. Matter of fact, the biggest flaw I can recall was that Sam was made out to be a blathering idiot.

Well, Frodo did have a hard time explaining these pics made by the Middle Earth Papparazi.

Well, they did cross dress and they did hang out with J. Edgar Hoover, but that’s all circumstantial.

People, you’re all missing the most obvious evidence of homosexuality among hobbits:

Presence of interior decorating in the most unlikely of places – proof positive of homosexuality!

::d&r::

Well, isn’t it just so OBVIOUS?

:smiley:

Actually, in the animated Return of the King there was a scene where Frodo was on his hands and knees and sam was standing right behind him. Unfortunatly, the camera angle was very suggestive and it looked like Frodo could have easily been taking it in the rear.

I think in one of the books there was also a scene( near Shelob’s cave) where Frodo was laying his head in Sam’s lap. That’s just a wee bit suggestive.

I think it just is conveying a very close friednship among two hobbits. It kind of bothers me that people think there’s some sort of gay subtext going on when two guys have a very close relationship.
