Bread.
I love sugar, but I don’t love cake particularly–having had a couple of bakery jobs, I got overloaded on donuts and cake. But fresh bread is forever.

Right now, the bread. Maybe later I’ll want the chocolate cake, but I must have milk with the cake. Is that possible?
Bread. Only, hold the butter unless it’s sweet butter from Alberta.
I bake bread about once every week or so. It’s gooood.
The hot fresh bread with butter, as long as the bread is home-made.
How about chocolate chip cookies, made from scratch, fresh from the oven, just a leeeetle bit underdone so they’re nice and gooey?
With milk.
ivylass wins. If ever there was a good reason to eat myself sick, it’s slightly underdone chocolate chip cookies. With whole milk of course. Cookies and milk are the best.
Luckily, we never bake cookies, we never have chocolate cake. The best I have is no sugar added ice cream, and I don’t allow myself to have that every night. If it were up to me we wouldn’t even have that.
Bread on the other hand. Well, I could have fresh bread and still think I was reducing my calorie intake. Of course “think” is the key word there. It seems like a real waste of bad calories to use it on something as mundane as bread.
Bread.
Something like my Mom’s honey wheat bread freshly cooked, the heel piece and spread with butter. Mmmm…
I agree with the cookies and milk.
But Between Cake or Bread (Cake or Death anyone?)
I choose Cake!
Bread for me, over anything sweet. Not even a hesitation!
Doesn’t everybody know you can’t have your cake and eat it too?
Somebody had to say it.
That was just way too easy to bother saying. In fact, I’d say it was cakewalk.
Bread. Although my answer might be tainted by the fact that I’ve eaten half of a German chocolate cake over the last two days.
Bread with dinner, cake for desert. Followed by exercise later.
Bread.
Unfortunately I managed to throw away the little mixing paddle to my bread machine, and I never have time to make it the old-fashioned way (although it’s hella yummy when I do) so there’s a chronic lack of fresh bread in my house.
Fresh, warm bread and butter and homemade strawberry preserves. Mmmm…
Why do you do this to me? sob
Chocolate cake–and hot, fresh bread in the morning.
Cake or bread? Hmm, either way, it beats the cake-or-death choice I had last time.
(Bread for me, thanks.)
Bread, nine times out of ten.
This is one of the nine times.
I baked a cake Saturday for the BF birthday and I did not even have a piece.
Bread hands down. Still warm and loaded with butter. Yummy
Bread. For me, bread isn’t just the food, it’s a connection with nearly the whole of human history. Well, western history, then.
Ditto on the bread.
