This was the biggest loophole in that subplot. We are to assume that the guy didn’t really go to HS with Taub but just was faking a connection (as he had with others previously). I don’t know about you, but if someone claimed to come from my HS only 2 years behind me, I would chat them up casually before getting into financial bed with them–and I find it very unlikely that he would be able to bluff his way through stories about HS nostalgia. College? Sure, but HS? Very unlikely–certainly to the point that I would put such incredible confidence (my entire future) in his hands.
Problem is that Taub was ripe for the picking - House was ‘abusing’ him and sending him on pointless errands, He had lost a bunch of money in the market, and he needed something to help him feel back in control.
Specific school references might have been hard, but generalities about 20 years ago, notsomuch. Also, at the end, she referenced other he had **convinced **he went to school with them, not that he **had **gone to school with them.
Only thing that could’ve made it better is if they had had Sawyer playing the role.
I liked the cat pee and Nigerian prince stuff, but my favorite line was from House, after the patient had the brown urine - “You know, once you go brown…” and he looked right at the Olivia Wilde character, then the camera panned to Omar Epps. Good timing, hopefully y’all don’t think I’m a racist now, I just thought it was typical House material.
Naw, I noticed it, too. He stared directly at Thirteen when he said that. I was going to mention it, but I couldn’t quite recall the line correctly.
:smack: So obvious, and yet I totally missed the reference…
Is it just me or does Kutner does Kutner have a crush on House?
It’s just you. ***I ***have a crush on House.
I obviously missed the “Jumped the shark” reference. Can someone clue me in?

I just got it too. He has set up the race car to go down the track and then jump over the shark toy, but Cuddy pulls the track before it can make it.
In the opening, House was building an elaborate track for his model car to jump over a toy shark. Cuddy came in and dismantled it. They were playing on the popular slang that a TV show has “jumped the shark” when it begins to lose quality, from the *Happy Days *episode in which Fonzie jumps a shark tank on his motorcycle.
At the beginning of the episode House set up a Hot Wheels track in an exam room. The end of the track had a jump and under the jump was a toy shark. As House started a toy car on the track Cutty walked in and caught the car just as it left the ramp.
ETA: Triple simulpost!
Yum. I like how he has grown out his hair, but then I am concerned about all the hairpieces they have to make in different lengths. aka girlie crush meets neurotic musings.
Fonzie jumped over a shark on waterskis. What made it absurd was him waterskiing wearing his leather jacket.
Thanks! I saw the Hotwheel track and thought it was cool, and I know the pop culture reference about shark-jumping, I just didn’t put them together. I do want an office-sized hotwheel course, though.

I worry about Taub. His life’s been pretty shit this season; he feels like he’s failed his wife, he’s stuck in a job with an abusive boss, and he lost a ton of money in the market. Also, in a previous episode, they mentioned that he might of had a suicide attempt (I don’t think they confirmed bit, but Kutner seemed to have figured it out). And they showed the cat coming up to him at the end of the episode. . .
. . .WAG that probably won’t happen, but I could see him doing it.
I’m starting to like 13 again, now that she’s not in any main story lines. I’m not a big fan of Taub though. He’s arrogant judgmental jerk, who’s frequently wrong.
Oh, I though he said Prince of Persia.
No, Prince of Nigeria. He was at his computer and making a joking reference to the “Nigerian 419” junk email scams.
This episode felt pretty old-school House with the patient that falls into spasms. Classic season 1-3 material.
There were some pretty funny exchanges. I especially liked the piece with the comatose fireman, just because House so rarely gets to eat up his arrogant remarks.
