Did I hear 13 say, while watching the soap, that she might have dated somone who looked like that nurse?
Hmmmmm…
The best part of the episode was the actor complaining about how unrealistic his show is, and how real life would never work like that.
Also, Kutner’s line about whether it was ok to use the allotted time to actually run the test.
House is always incompetent and wrong. This ep he was just a little more incompetent and wrong than usual.
Yes, yes, it’s unrealistic. Just stick to watching The Wire, and turn off your tv when it’s not on, for god’s sake.
Also, what’s the complaints about House making mistaken guesses? He admits himself that his theories are guesses, and that they might be wrong, but that they give the largest chance for the patient to survive. Would you rather have him always be lucky?
Stale pudding, the complaints about House being medically unrealistic. Of course it’s medically unrealistic. I submit that is not why one should be watching the show - it’s certainly not why I watch. Watch for the character dynamics, watch to see how much of a jerk House will be this week, watch to see where he gets the epiphany, watch for the dialogue. Don’t watch it for the realism, because there isn’t any.
House even had a line in this very episode addressing this complaint: “As opposed to shows that represent the world exactly the way it is, like … can’t think of any.”
I think this episode was excellent. If anything, his lucky guess being somewhat off the mark was MORE realistic than what usually happens. So nyah.
House is rarely wrong in his diagnoses. But he usually makes a diagnosis before all the data is in. He sees three symptoms and makes a connection to a particular disease, but symptom #4 hasn’t presented itself yet. Or there are things in the patient’s past that House doesn’t know.
It’s not that he’s wrong, but rather that he doesn’t have all the information – and treatment can’t wait on the off chance that new symptoms present themselves (yes, they do in the show, but to the doctors, they have no way of knowing that this will happen when House makes a diagnosis).
I loved Cuddy’s comment to House:
“51 weeks out of the year I let you run around like a monkey in a banana factory.”
The answer came later in the thread, but I thought I’d note that in the future you can use http://www.tunefind.com/ - users post songs played in episodes for several TV series. Because it’s community based some shows are better covered than others, but it’s helped me before and they link straight to iTunes song previews, which is handy.
She’s admitted she’s bisexual, and House makes cracks about it occasionally. She said that about the nurse just to pique House’s curiosity more.
Did she admit to being bisexual or did she not respond when House suggested it? It was a writer’s strike ago and I’m having trouble remembering.
Cuddy looked great in pants, btw.
And I wanted to point out that the actor playing the inspector was the pussy-whipped waiter who couldn’t pee in public in the movie Waiting. He looked good.
This was an off episode. He was just grasping at straws the whole time. I still like the show though.
She’s admitted it to Foreman. I don’t think House has ever explicitly accused her of anything, nor has she explicitly told him anything.
Actually, she didn’t admit it. Foreman asked her, and when she hesitated before replying, he told her that was enough: if it were untrue, she would have said so, but if he had hit the target, her first thought would be “how did he find out?”
Well, last week, he did call her “31” instead of “13,” then said, “You like it both ways, right?”
I came to this series late, but Og…House is guilty of kidnapping and assault. I’m sorry, but no doctor is that good to get away with that.
I’ll keep watching, but I feel bad for Hugh Laurie…he’s such a talented actor, and they don’t have to resort to such silliness.
Just because an episode has aired doesn’t mean that everyone has seen it. Lots of people record shows to watch them later, and lots of our members live outside the US, where the show may not air for several months.
The bottom line: if the thread title says “Open Spoilers” then you don’t need to box spoilers. (I have amended the thread title to reflect this.) On t’other hand, if the thread title doesn’t say anything, then spoilers should be boxed.
Noted for next week.
