The part I didn’t get: why did House think Cuddy was lying about liking his breakfast? Wasn’t it previously established that he had become a pretty kick ass cook?
Well, a good cook should know when they’ve served crap food.
hello?
anyone?
House and Cuddy are a real couple, not a hallucination!
Flo AND Costner’s dad from Field of Dreams? He was good, Flo was distracting.
…
Blargh. Annoying patient/fam/totally radical gnarly MS kid d00d, and the Huddy thing is already old. I was hoping that they’d decide they couldn’t handle it and bring in some hardass to supervise House. I usually just hate the anti-Houses we’re supposed to “love to hate”–the cop, Chi McBride, etc.–but anybody’d be a welcome relief from the Huddybeast.
BTW: What’s up with the 9/27 ep threads? There’s something like four of them, and all of them but this one redirect back to the premiere thread.
A moderator merged vivalostwages’ and salinqmind’s threads and somehow redirected a couple of posts from last week. Posts #2 and #3 were posted today to last week’s episode thread (9/20) and somehow wandered in here. Somehow, an errant redirect was made in the process, too
I didn’t see a House thread for this week - I LOOKED ! - so I’d made one. I was disappointed in this episode. I would have thought more of a reaction from Wilson. Case of the week was .
I did, however, love the side plot of the two old dudes trying to bribe House so they could manipulate each other into getting the father to move out. That was too funny.
I was surprised, though also pleased, that House did not keep the cash bribes.
I bet he gets a seven-figure salary, so $50 would be chump-change to him.
I don’t think House even approaches a $1 million salary. Remember, he is basically unemployable just about anywhere else, at least as a department head. Cuddy tried to get House a different supervisor, and couldn’t even do that. In 2009, the lowest salary offer for an M.D. in a hospital was $195,00 a year in the Northeast (where Princeton-Plainsboro is located). A department head, like House, may get 10% to 20% more.

So, using these figures, as a WAG, House probably makes no more than about $225,000 per year. Still, House seems to be pretty comfortable.
Agreed–this little C-plot was the best part of the episode. As Neidhart says, $100+$40 probably isn’t that much one way or the other to House. Giving it back, on the other hand, tips them off that something was going on and maybe gives them just enough of a nudge that they can work out the nursing home arrangements on their own.

He still might have kept it just because.
Overall, pretty good episode. Especially liked the part where House and Cuddy come out to Wilson. One of the funniest bits ever on the show. This is what I like about my favorite one-hour shows. Mix up the drama/romance/humor.
And House still calls Cuddy “Cuddy”, not “Lisa”. (Cuddy has on occasion called House “Greg”, but not this season?)
Cuddy has a kid. Sooner or later the show is going to have to stop brushing her off with nanny references and such. Kids are important and shouldn’t be ignored like this.
So Chase and 13. Wow.
Chase and 13? What did I miss?
(ETA: I watched the show over a 3 day period, so I may have forgotten some things)
Chase and 13? What did I miss?
Watch it again carefully. Note Chase’s reaction to certain comments (or lack thereof) regarding 13 or House trying to provoke him about Huddy. Chase has something going on. Taken together with last week’s episode …

Oh, no they’re not. They’re annoying little distractions that turn ordinarily good shows into crap. No show has ever been made better by the presence of a baby. I hope they continue to brush off the little snot-nosed brat as long as they can.
