Tonight we’ll see a girl who has to live in a bubble but still has some pretty severe reactions to an unknown quantity.
I imagine we’ll also see House chowing down on everything Wilson prepares.
I find it entirely appropriate that Michelle Trachtenberg, even after Buffy went off the air, still finds herself bedeviled by bloodsuckers.
Good episode. I loved it when House went to work on Wilson to force feed him some backbone, forcing him to begin standing up for himself. Even better when Wilson actually did it.
I need to find a screen capture of that moment when House said “Oh Snap!” and make it into a LJ icon.
And when he made the comment about the whiteboard, I thought Foreman was going to kick his ass then and there…Himself & I looked at each other and said, “Did he really say that?”
Good episode overall, though.
Great ep. I couldn’t figure out what the heck the problem was.
Loved the Wilson/House antics too. What a great expression on Wilson’s mug when House told him he had indeed been having sex, but not with another person.
“I was waiting out there for hours.”
“Well, I need a lot of foreplay.”
Hee!
Oh, the "white"board thing just about killed me. Foreman’s black marker comeback was genius.
In other news, Michelle Trachtenberg is now officially HOT. Hoo wee. I can say that because she’s my age.
The cane thing was brilliant. I hope House gets a new one that’s all shiny and macho, in keeping with the motorcycle midlife crisis thing. I’m betting Wilson ends up staying with House for at least the rest of this season. All in all, a wonderful episode.
If you look really closely, the magazine Wilson’s got clutched in his hands as he naps outside the apartment is an issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.
Love the little touches.
Great episode. I’m at the point that I care less about the cure than I do for the comedy. The whiteboard and the black marker part AND the foreplay comments were hilarious.
House moving the comforter and pillow at the end was a great touch.
Her allergic attack at the beginning was so damn scary. I felt like I was having a heart attack. I think I held my breath through part of it, and my heart was hammering at the end. The makeup was really horrifying, and the gasping, the wheezing, the rolling eyes . . . Kumbaya!!
Loves me some graphic medical emergencies.
Let’s not forget the line when House is talking to the boyfriend about the antibiotics:
“You mean it can come through my…….stuff?”
“Oh totally, as a matter of fact, when the administrator gets sick, she just gives ME the prescription.”
Priceless.
House walks an amazing line between sitcom and drama. I love it!
As for Michelle Trachtenberg, there was some point where the doctor said something about her condition and I finally just busted out with, “Damn she got hot quick.” And the roomies gave me this look, like I was a necrophiliac or something. sigh They just don’t understand.
We actually had to explain, to one of my roommates, what House was doing with the pot of water. We should have just done it to him and not explained it, alas an opportunity missed.
Will someone tell me the joke about the whiteboard? I missed the first half of the show.
House is at his beloved white board and Foreman gets up to make some notes on the way he thinks the investigation should go and House says, “Hey, there is a reason they call this a white board, it’s not my world, sorry.” And it’s one of those moments where you go, “Oh shit, Foreman is really going to deck House.” But no, tension broke when after being supported in his theory Foreman turns to House and says, “Now, can I have the black marker?”
And, when House falls, Wilson (deadpan),“Somebody must have filed half way through your cane while you slept,” or words to that effect.
Loved it!
Fun episode, but what I don’t get is, didn’t they say that tick paralysis was descending. Didn’t they say that? I swear they did, because there was a snide remark about her symptoms being upside-down to that diagnosis.
And am I correct in understanding that the tick was in an… er… internal location? I’d like to know how he got it off/out/ew in one piece with no speculum, forceps or lubricant handy. She’s gonna be feeling that in the morning!
They did say that tick paralysis was descending, and it was: they concluded that one of her heart things earlier was paralysis, and it spread from there. Why it hit her legs before her lungs, I can’t say, but that was how they justified it.
I’ve only seen two episodes of “House” (this week and last week) and I was kind of struck by the similarities, from the patients gasping for breath and vomiting, right down to House wanting to check the women’s vaginas for the cause. This show is definitely quirky, but like all quirky shows (e.g. Northern Exposure and Ally McBeal), there’s a fine line that needs to be walked. At the end of the day, it’s hard to balance the comedy and the drama because eventually you venture into the area of ridiculousness. A doctor stopping an elevator and searching a patient’s vagina for a tick while her recently implanted heart is barely beating at 35 bpm was on the wrong side of that line, IMO.
Anyone else notice House’s address? 221B.
Remember any other famous “detective” having that address?
I read when House started that he was modeled on Sherlock Holmes…
That was shown at least as far back as nine episodes ago, actually.
I seem to recall that the Holmes connection is why they named the character “House.”
