House 11/28

House deals with Tritter’s continuing harassment while also trying to save a little girl with very controversial measures, even duking it out with her parents in court. Looks like he also punches another doc (Chase, I believe) in the face.
Whoa!

bump for the curmudgeon

Loved the “It’s never lupus” line.

Did we know Foreman had a brother before tonight?

“It’s a good thing you failed at being a mother because you suck at it.”

Ouch.

House sure is an ass when he is jonesing.

Bah for having to wait 2 weeks. Fox is the worst when it comes to that.

Curious to see how House takes Wilson’s actions - wonder why he did it rather than letting Chase do it? To cut a deal for himself?

Chase I could handle, but that remark to Cuddy seriously crossed the line. As much as I love him and his sarcastic assholish tendencies, it’s about time Wilson–or someone–brought House down.

The cop told Chase that he would most likely get fired and have a tough time finding a job if House caught wind that he was ratting on him. I figure when Chase told Wilson that he was planning on ratting House out, Wilson had the same thought and opted to take the heat from House as it would be unlikely to affect his career.

Chase’s ratting him out would not be ‘enough’… all chase could attest to is that a) House is an addict and b) that he’s an ass.

Wilson, on the other hand, has the hard evidence that can be used.

WHat changed Wilson was Chase’s comment about how House missed the diag and that it didn’t matter (to House) that Chase got it right… that coupled with Cutty showed that House was actually getting dangerous (to patients and colleagues)… at this point Wilson must realize that better intervention is needed.

I actually took it as House asking for one to flip when he said none of them had the guts to do what was needed.

Seconded. I love when my shows validate the internets.

Did anyone else think there was a bit of a “vibe” between Wilson and Cuddy? He *is * a known cocker.

BTW - Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever?!?!? WTF?

AFAIK - that’s only transmitted by tic bites - wouldn’t they have looked for a tic somewhere on her?

I knew it was gonna be Wilson that ratted on him, he’s the only one that really made sense for it. It still sucks though.

Heh, just saw his line from the preview. “I thought I’d listen to your theories, mock them and then go with my own. The usual.” Too funny.

Random thoughts:

Great episode–it added layers of complexity to all of the main characters.

David Morse is an awesome actor and it’s been good seeing someone stand up to House.

Laurie is doing a good job of playing someone on the edge. (or is he over the edge now?)

Yeah, I think he went over the edge when he slugged Chase. I wouldn’t blame Chase one bit for talking to Tritter, but I was glad to see Wilson (who has been wronged the most by House) step up first.

I recognized the actress playing the girl’s mom as the sister from “Providence” (I think).

Does Tritter have a supervisor, or a normal caseload, or anything? Launching a fairly detailed criminal investigation against a guy you’re on record as demanding a professional apology from—including just happening to make a traffic stop, as a police detective—and…this isn’t raising eyebrows from anyone in the force?

Well…at least it’s still better than Third Watch.

I’m with you. And apparently the hospital is giving him office space in a closet?

If I were any of them, I would have been going to Tritter’s superiors complaining about HIS out of line behaviour, including blackmail and bribery. Also, if I’d been Chase, I would have hopped up and started shouting in the restaurant — “You can’t blackmail me into testifying what you want by trying to pretend we’re having a pleasant conversation! What you’re doing is unethical!”

I’m most perturbed by him constantly telling the doctors that his wisdom as a cop outranks their medical knowledge regarding how much medication is necessary for House, and them (mostly) standing by and taking it without argument.

you know, it should occur to them, by now anyway, that House’s most destructive behaviour only happens when his meds are withheld… sure, he’s an addict, but as already detailed in an earlier episode, he’s a functioning addict… and the addiction is to something he physically needs.

IOW, his hoarding of the pills, perhaps the manner in which he takes the pills (in front of patients, etc) is all addictive behaviour… but the reason for the pills is legit. (the pain).

So, is this the 45 minute crisis for this arc?

This has bothered me too. Wouldn’t someone, say Cuddy, have hospital lawyers slapping all sorts of harrassment charges against Tritter? She couldn’t reach out through some of those benefactors to put a little political arm on him? Vogler may have hated House, but he would never have let this kind of thing slide on by.

I had to laugh at Tritter’s comment about House endangering patients while on drugs when this episode proved he’s more of a danger when he’s off them. The whole setting the kid up for a quadruple amputation without more than a hunch seemed like a bit much.

I loved Wilson’s comment, “I’m going to need 30 pieces of silver”.

My take is that he knows from talking to Chase and Cuddy that Tritter is pressuring them severely and House is burning his bridges and one of them (or one of the other two) is going to flip. So he himself flips to make sure he’s the one who feels House’s wrath, not the others and – WAG – maybe to negotiate the best deal for House?

I agree that the “let’s give the cops a room in our hospital and make our staff talk to them while they try to crucify one of or doctors for personal reasons” thing doesn’t pass the sniff test. But the reality wouldn’t advance the plot at all.

I also agree that David Morse is doing a great job – I hate Tripper! Though OTOH it really was about time House got a little comuppance for being such a prize ass to people all the time.
