All I remember of David Morse before this was as bland, unmemorable nice guy. He’s doing “obsessive jerk with a good point” well.
And I caught the Cuddy-Wilson vibe, too. Who can blame him? I’d hit Lisa E, too!

Yup - I think her name is Paula Cale.
House is on the verge of becoming such an unsympathetic character for me that I won’t care to watch the show. Which means that he’s getting to be even more of an ass than Tritter, and that really says something.
My mother suggested that the patient in the previews is the same actress as the little person Denny Craine (William Shatner) has been dating over on Boston Legal. I wasn’t paying attention, and thought it looked like a little girl. Did anyone else see?
Double amputation, but yeah, I agree with you.
Agreed on all comments. House is really breaking down. If he’s limited now to two pills every six hours, how many was he taking before?
That poor kid…So many painful procedures. However, couldn’t someone have figured out the difference between porphyria and flesh-eating bacteria a bit sooner? I just thought the pathology would be different.
Lemur, yes, that actress is Meredith Eaton-Gilden–Bethany from Boston Legal. She plays the mother of a girl in the House ep. to be aired in two weeks.
Actually, I came in here to see if anyone could explain this comment to me. It’s something about Judas, maybe?
But that’s the point of the story arc, isn’t it? Both with and without his drugs House is spinning out of control and Wilson wouldn’t have talked to Tritter if he didn’t see the need for an intervention. Don’t worry, though. Soon he’ll be in treatment and he’ll start spouting those annoying but true AA/NA aphorisms and showing off his One Month coin.
“Pain is necessary, suffering is optional, Chase.”
“Wilson, if you do what you always did, you’ll get what you always got.”
Gawd, in a couple months you’re going to beg for the old House to come back.
Yes, in the bible story Judas accepts 30 pieces of silver as payment for turning Jesus over to the authorities.
Yep…Wilson will be the Judas…the episode itself is titled “Finding Judas”…at least from Tritter’s viewpoint.
Damn. I was sure that was a Merchant of Venice referance. Looks like I need to call my girlfriend and do the shame voice…
A pound of flesh goes for more than 30 pieces of silver.
But remember, just flesh. No blood.
Maybe later, if you’re really contrite, you can show her your “Oh” face.
Which is affecting House’s disposition more?
“I’m afraid that the midget I’m dating may be my daughter.” God, I love Denny Crane.
I’m doubting Wilson will really rat House out.
2 things:
Wilson is supposed to play Watson to House’s Sherlock. So no way they can have him do something that destructive to House. No way a character like House would react well to it, so can’t do it without doing something nasty to the character development done so far.
The comment House made about no one stepping up to do what was necessary. It can also be taken to mean about HIM. He can’t back down personally and he cares about his people in a twisted way. Maybe he was TRYING to provoke a reaction? Get someone to crack? That would pull tritter off them and back on him. Guess he figures he can take tritter down. Wilson is closest to House, so maybe he figured out what House is doing?
Also, House seemed to hold off on taking that one pill even though he kept making a big deal about not getting his meds. Seems to me he’d have popped it if he was jonesing THAT badly, AND he cut himself off once before with far less reaction just to prove a point to Cutty. Seems to me that this may have been a play on his part.
I agree with the comments that it’s not plausible that the administrators would be so accomodating to a cop who is trying to gather evidence against one of their doctors. There is no judge in America who would issue a carte blanche search warrant against a guy accused of murder, let alone a guy accused of forgery.
And I agree that Tritter’s actions have crossed the line into harrassment. Freezing all of House’s associates’ bank accounts in order to pressure them into testifying against him is both unethical and illegal. It would also certainly provide grounds for the defense to ask that any testimony gained through intimidation be tossed out. Geesh.
Which leads me to wonder if the writers are screwing with us again and that House is hallucinating the whole thing.
Wilson has to be the one to pull the plug, because Wilson is the one with the most information. Everyone was willing to cover for House on the grounds that he’s a brilliant doctor. Wilson has seen, however, that (a) House is not just nasty to get what he wants, he’s needlessly cruel; and (b) he’s not THAT brilliant, he missed this diagnosis and then hit Chase for getting the diagnosis correct; and © his arrogance has got way out of hand, ordering a double-amputation of a child without waiting for the diagnosis. Three times in this episode, House told the judge, the family, the other doctors, that there was “no time” to wait for diagnostic results, they had to act based on his say-so. And three times he was wrong.
One of the things that has bothered me about the show is the way that he is always right about everything – even that horrible bit last week with the teenager who was responsible for his two siblings. Even Sherlock was wrong now and again.
And I wouldn’t hold the Sherlock/Watson analogy too tight. Watson did try to convince Sherlock not to take drugs, but there were no rehab clinics or laws in that era.
That is something I considered. Seemed strange to me that he gets shot in one episode and then no one ever mentions it again (IIRC). Some things do seem off, not off enough that this couldn’t be reality, but off enough that a hallucination would not be out of the question, IMHO. But, then I dismissed it, thinking that they wouldn’t go for the old “Bobby Ewing in the shower” solution. Especially, since they already resolved an episode in that manner. Then again, tying up an episode that way would be a good way to throw viewers off the scent of wrapping up the story arc that way.
But, this is just an opinion of an inconsistant watcher. I have not seen all (or even most) of the episodes leading up to these last few, so I could be WAY off the mark.
Bolding mine… point of order, he didn’t hit Chase for getting the diagnoses correct, he hit Chase for ‘preventing his departure’ and/or getting in his face with the “stop the surgery”… it wasn’t untill after Chase hit the ground that Chase fully described the diagnoses and then House recognized that Chase was right…
Yes, House hit Chase because he was physically preventing him from leaving.
I think Hugh Laurie is great in this role - except I don’t like the look he gets on his face whenever House does something like this. The look is one of surprise, guilt and sadness. It’s not a flash of emotion quickly supressed, but a sustained expression, as if he were about to apologize. It doesn’t suit House.
 Wow, that would sure explain alot!! Like why Tritter has his own little office in the hospital, why he would take his “week off” to go thru hospital files, why with the wave of a magic wand all the accounts are frozen, etc.
Maybe Tritter is the manifestation of House’s addition chasing him around and messing with his world. That would be quite a twist, but I don’t think alot of fans would be happy with a “Bobby Ewing” plot convention. Besides, we’ve seen many times where the characters talk about Tritter when House isn’t around so he must be real.
Someone earlier said something about how they never mention House’s being shot. It was dealt with in several following episodes…remember when he wanted his carpet with the blood stain put back? And he does still have the scar on his neck from the injury.
I didn’t really watch this show until the end of last season, now it is one of my favorites. House’s character is getting harder to like, however Hugh Laurie is a mesmerizing actor.
