"House" season finale...5/24/05 (Unboxed spoilers possible)

And no indication of unrequited lust? Feh!

Whatever happened to Volger? Did his attention get caught by some other bauble in his financial empire? Are they free of his interference until he gets bored elsewhere and wants to jerk around Cuddy some more?

Not me, when the guy’s catheter came out and they said they couldn’t get a urine sample now I thought to myself “I guess they don’t do cystocentesis on people” and then Wham! House did one and I thought “cool”. We often get urine that way on animals (although we don’t jam the needle in quite so hard) because that way we don’t get interference from the bacteria and cells in the urethra.

Re: the last scene. I thought he was intentionally doing something to cause the Very Bad Pain, to sharply remind himself what was wrong with Stacy.

Vogler (not Volger) is gone for good. He went up against House and lost. Here’s the whole story: Vogler wanted House to sit up and beg. Basically Vogler wanted to know that House would do anything he asked. So Vogler gave House a choice: Fire Cameron or Foreman, or give a speech praising my new product. House agreed to give the speech, but then trashed the product instead. Cameron quit rather than be in a situation of not knowing whether she would be fired, but mainly because she couldn’t take House not returning her affections. Vogler continued to try to get House fired, which would have required a unanimous vote by the board. Wilson voted to keep House, so Vogler submitted a vote to remove Wilson from the board, which succeeded. But by the next day (the soonest Vogler could revote on House) Cuddy had become convinced that this was bigger than House, that any of them could be fired if they didn’t sit up and beg. So she voted to keep House. When her job was on the vote shortly thereafter, she made this impassioned speech about making decisions, etc, etc. The board voted to keep Cuddy and Vogler knew he had lost. He left and took his $100 million with him. House only got Cameron to come back by agreeing to go on a date with her.

By the way, I love all the actual medical knowledge being posted in here. It confirms for me that the medical situations on the show are completely real.

Regarding House, Cameron, and Stacy. My theory, supported by my girlfriend, is that House will end up with Cameron. As we saw at the end of the season finale, Stacy is a first-class, grade A bitch who will always believe she has House on the end of a string, and so will never stop toying with him. Cameron, on the other hand, understands that House isn’t all sappy touchy feely, and therefore will be comfortable being with him where Stacy was not.

Meh. I want him to end up with Cuddy. She’s fun, she can handle him, she’s cute, she’s not half his age . . .

Count me as one that doesn’t want House to end up with anybody. I don’t even want Stacy to be a regular. I just don’t want this show to be centered around a romance. As a peripheral storyline, I don’t mind if House occasionally gets lucky, but I don’t want the show to become focused too much on his love life.

Okay, maybe House and Wilson could get together. In my mind. Sorry 'bout the slashy thought.

Didn’t last episode imply that he was the “drug seeker” that routinely came into the hospital for a drug fix, which is why they didn’t diagnose the leg problem correctly until too late?

But then again, why would a doctor have to be a "drug seeker’?

And she’s got them Fun Bags!!!

Kind of related to this . . . NPR interviewed the writers of House (one of whom is an MD and the show’s technical advisor), and they made the points that 1) House is never going to turn “nice;” that’s not him, and 2) He always nasty for a reason.

I felt a lot better about the show after listening to the interview. They care about keeping the character consistent, and I’m not worrying about any jump-the-shark scenes where, for instance, House might finally feel contrite and admit his undying love for Cameron.

It’s still weird to remember that he played Bertie Wooster, though.

Thanks! Guess I missed that episode. :frowning: Thought I’d seen 'em all. :frowning: :frowning: But reruns are starting!

House was having problems getting a refill on his vicodin a while back (possibly the same episode that he quit cold turkey). I’d guess that it’s an ethical no-no to self-prescribe.

I don’t think it’s an ethical no-no, but rather that Vicodin is a drug that it is illegal for a doctor to prescribe for himself.
