Hey Superdude, aren’t you actually performing in chitown this weekend? And why aren’t you telling us where and when? Keeping that part of your life separate from your E-life? Or am I just entirely wrong and you aren’t going to be anywhere in the vicinity?
Okay, here’s the skinny on that…
I was booked to play at Zanies on North Wells on Aug 20/21, but it fell through. We were going to attempt to reschedule it for this coming weekend, but they were overbooked, so I offered to reschedule for another time. I wouldn’t have made much on the show, anyway. Pretty much would have broke even after figuring travel expenses, etc. So why not come up for 4 days and hang around Chitown with the lovely Beth, and any Dopers who want to get together? Hey, Vile, what are YOU doing Saturday afternoon?
Okay, folks, October 13 it is.
I’ll make my famous lasagna (I usually do one veggie and one with meat sauce).
RSVP and let me know what you’d like to bring. Bring a dish and a sixpack or bottle of whatever you’d like to drink - beer, wine, sodapop, etc. When it gets closer to the date I’ll email everyone with directions. I’ve got two comfy couches that can be the crashing place for any intrepid out-of-towners.
I’m not allowed to cook…how bout I pick up a huge salad?
I’ll be there. Can a bring a couple of appetizers? I’m really bad at main dishes. I make this really good cream cheese/bleu cheese/sundried tomator/pesto dip thingy. There is also the dip known as “Taco Crap” in our family that’s really good, despite it’s name.
Maybe, maybe, maybe. Time will tell. It’ll depend on the ol’ checkbook as we get closer. We’ll be having some atypical expenses the next 2-3 months, so I can only say maybe.

Also, whereabouts (generally) do you live? Somewhere on the North side?
Is this intended to be spouse/family friendly? (I doubt you want a bunch of kids, or that the kids would want to be there.)
Barring unforeseen circumstances, I’ll be there. I’ll wait until I hear what is needed most before I decide what to cook. Someone please jump in with desserts, because that’s my least favorite thing to make.
I do great quiche. I do homestyle southern food pretty well so if someone is a big fan of chicken and handrolled egg noodles I could whip that up. I also make a killer chili.
Will it be cool out at that time of year? Or still summerlike? Generally I figure out what to cook by the prices and availabilty at the local suupermarket. I’ll probably end up doing that in this case too. How many seafood eaters will be attending?
Spouses, significant others, and kids are welcome - with the caveat that my apartment isn’t necessarily kid-proof and that we can be a potty-mouthed bunch - I think MikeG’s kid’s learned all about how porn videos are labeled at that Leona’s dinner a few months ago. If they get bored we can plunk them down in my bedroom with the VCR and the Princess Bride. And they have to be nice to the cats.

I live in the vicinity of Ashland & Division (I’ll do directions & address stuff via email), very accessible from the Kennedy. There is on-street parking nearby, and I just discovered a pay-lot down closer to Chicago Ave.

I just found I that I will probably have a family birthday party to attend in the afternoon around 1, but I can probably cut out by around 4 or 5. Is it ok if I show up late?
