Just had to say it! :D:D:D
I am saddened that the Astros got one before the Rangers, but still, well done to Texas teams.
Texas had over a combined century of major league baseball, between the Rangers and Astros, with nary a World Series win. It was time.
as a dodger fan I say boo (among other responses that belong in the pit) to them as a baseball fan in general I say congrats
Anyone who read the June 30, 2014 issue of Sports Illustrated knew this would happen, since the headline on that issue heralded the Astros as Your 2017 World Series Champs.
And now they’ve cursed them by predicting an Astros repeat in '18.
These sorts of predictions seem to happen not only after every Series is over, but after other playoff series are concluded (as in the prediction of an impending Yankees dynasty, which was inevitable as of a week ago before being supplanted by the inevitable Astros dynasty). The most that can be said is that the Astros and most of the other playoff teams (not necessarily the wild cards) are likely to be competitive for a couple of years at least. Odds of any team winning multiple World Series in a row in this day and age are slender.
But who cares, congratulations to the Astros for a great season and a deserved title.
Congrats to both the Astros and the Dodgers for giving us a great series. A couple of those games were the most exciting baseball games I’ve ever seen.
I also love the emotion you see in this series (positive and negative) and I’d like MLB more if I saw more of it.
The Rangers can never win a title as long as they are laboring under the Curse of Bob Short, who stole away my beloved Washington Senators when I was just a wee lad (ok well I was 19 but still…)
Congratulations to the Astros and to the long-suffering baseball fans of Houston, from a fan of the team that extended the length of that suffering by two years.
I rooted for them in the World Series because I like to see a team that has never won before win…as long as it’s not at my favorite team’s expense.
Astros have been so much fun to watch all season and they kept up the heart-attack-inducing drama right to the end. I am so glad they were rewarded for all the entertainment. THANKS ASTROS!
It’s the curse of the 24 hour sports network. They have to fill everything with talking heads, and thus must beat. every. little. thing. into. submission. Today’s annoyance was the whole “Did Yu Darvish ruin the Dodgers’ season?” Fuck no, they got to Game 7 of the freaking World Series. Anyone that says the entire season is ruined because they didn’t win the very last one needs to reexamine their perspective on sport. I mean, shit, I feel bad for Dodgers fans, and especially their players, but when the dust settles, they were right there, and just didn’t have enough.
Grats to the Astros, they fought hard and came out on top. Good luck next year, to both teams, as the Braves will demolish all opponents on their way to winning the World Series in four games, with a pitching team reminiscent of the mid 90’s.
You mean pumped up with enough steroids to make Bane envious?
