How are gas prices in your area?

The station where I buy gas was $3.06 two days ago, and today it’s $3.00.

$2.849/gallon at the cheap station near my house in Chicago (proper).

In the last year, the wholesale price of gas has gone down 10-15%, while the average retail price of gas has only gone down 2-3%. By comparison, the price of WTI oil has dropped 26-28%. There is no direct throughline from the price of oil to the retail price of gas. Frustrating, but true.

I filled up for $2.86/gal tonight in the suburbs just west of O’Hare airport. The bigger news was that it was about 35F which is 25 degrees warmer than it was this past weekend.

I don’t normally as a habit pay super close attention to gas prices, but the last week or so has been so volatile I’ve definitely noticed it. For several weeks now we’ve been hovering around $2.50 a gallon, about a week ago it jumped up to $3 a gallon only within the last few days for it to drop back to $2.50 and currently it’s sitting at about $2.30. This is in central Michigan. That’s the lowest it’s been in a very long time.

Yeah, well aware of that. Oil markets rallied after Trump’s announcement, then fell back a bit, but the day is still early.

Most stations near me (S.E. Texas) are in the $2.21 - $2.25 per gallon range, though there are some outliers that are a full 20 cents more. Yesterday I, and my nearly full tank, passed a Buc-ees on I-45 that had gas for $1.93!

$2.19.9 at Costco in Murfreesboro, TN.

My wife texted me: ‘$2.59 for gas in Lynden.’ :astonished: I need to ask her where that station is!

Travel data point; Was in Ft. Lauderdale over the weekend, filled at $2.89 in Hallandale Beach.

$2.64 today in West Lebanon, New Hampshire.

$2.24.9 at Costco in Middle TN. Up from $2.04.9 last week. Still not complaining.

That was the most recent statewide cycling target (8 days ago), so you were pretty certain of finding a significantly cheaper station, esp. if you had the luxury of being able to wait a few days.

On Gasbuddy I see several around $2.45 along route 441. I went to the Buc’ees 20 miles south of here (NW of St. Augustine) 4 days ago, $2.38 regular/$3.18 for the premium my car needs. About the only remaining chains which have reg./prem. spreads significantly smaller than a dollar are Buc’ees and Walmart, which is what I’ll be using for my drive back.

My local Costco has Reg for $2.24 adn Premium for $2.89.

Wholesale went up 8 cents yesterday (apparently the idiots doing the trading only now realized the impact of dft’s Venezuelan Adventure); the delay means said increase should hit your pumps on Monday (stations rarely do anything on the weekends), so top off as soon as you can.

I just filled up at costco in Indianapolis for about the same price. I forget the exact price, but it was around $2.25/gallon

The “normal” price for 87 octane in the West Lafayette, IN area has been just under $3.00 lately. With a Kroger grocery store max. discount of $1.00, I have been getting a gallon of 87 octane for ~$2.00 at the grocery store pump in Dec 2025.

About the same in suburban Chicago, I filled up for $2.89/gal earlier in the week.

$2.12 in Ohio.. They must have gotten the regional refinery repaired to get prices back down.

In my area, in west suburban Cook County, it’s now at $2.95 for regular (87); that’s the first time in recent memory it’s been under $3.
