Scare mongering won’t help here. I can say with 1000% certainty that nobody will be put in jail for being trans…ever. Project 2025 will be put on a shelf to collect dust, where it belongs.
That’s what reasonable people said about “Mein Kampf” when it first came out.
Though I agree that scare-mongering is unproductive or worse, I would never have believed that I’d live to see a sitting US President actively try to overthrow the legitimately-elected US government.
So, you’ll forgive me if I don’t endorse your little “1000%” prediction.
I wasn’t there at the time and I am not a historian, so I don’t know precisely how true this is. But it certainly has the ring of truth.
However, we don’t live in the same world as Germany 1925. For one thing, it’s hard to put the genie back in the bottle. All the groups at risk (queer folks, persons of color, anyone who is not Christian, women) have had at least a taste of autonomy and freedom unimaginable back then. We will fight to the death not to go back.
Moreover, we have tools at our disposal that were unheard of in 1925. The internet, obviously, but better transportation, mod cons, and all the trappings of twenty-first century life that give us more opportunities and options.
I am not trying to hand-wave away disaster. I just don’t think people will go down without a fight. Complete suppression of everyone who is not a CIS-gendered, straight white Christian male will not happen as rapidly or as easily as some doom-sayers seem to think.
Far too many of the Right will respond with “Okey dokey, sounds good to me.”
It won’t be an instant where jack-booted thugs run about rounding up all the non-straight people.
They’ll start slow and go after the low hanging fruit. Those providing gender-affirming care. People who write about it and so on.
They’ll work up from there. They will ALWAYS have a boogeyman to aim for. Once they get rid of one they will find the next in line.
I’m not saying to run for the hills right now but I would definitely be thinking about it and planning for the worst if I were not a straight, white male. It’s just prudent.
I am a straight, white, Christian male. I’ll fight to the death to defend the safety of my trans child. OP didn’t say which college they attend. If it’s Wisconsin-Madison, they’re probably in a safe place. Probably UW-Milwaukee as well. I’d guess there are other colleges where the location would be uncomfortable if not dangerous.
These are the same people who jail women who miscarry as part of their crusade against women. Of course they’ll jail trans people, at best.
Or just beat them to death or shoot them, same as they often do to gays, blacks and anyone else they don’t like.
My suggestion is that if you use hormone treatments, stock up now to the extent that you can, and keep your ear to the ground for licit, reliable supply if that should become ncessary.
I would advise those with Hispanic facial features to carry citizenship papers or a birth certificate at all times.

If local authorities get in on the profiling, the Hispanic people need to speak to blacks who have fought this outrage for a century+.

Republicans have a plan this time. They have a once in a generation opportunity here to lock in their power. I see no reason they will not try and they are not worried about Trump being a buffoon. Trump won’t do it…the people around him will. I’d bet all I have they are working on that plan right now.
If the Republicans have the three branches, then you can throw “what was” right out the window. Precedent is absolutely meaningless at this point. Nothing points this out more than the outgoing Minority Leader of the Senate kissing Trump’s ass on his way out the door after badmouthing him the days before the election. McConnell didn’t fear for his pension-he feared for his life, because he knows the difference between a President and a dictator.
They’ve never minded deporting citizens as “illegal immigrants”. It’s skin color they care about, not where people were born.

To the OP-Fight back as much as you can without going too far (damn hard to do, I know)…but have a backpack with a change of clothes and a first aid kit ready. Have a minimum of three places you could run to, and tell very few people where those places are. On the east coast big cities from the middle and upwards, on the west coast most cities along the entire coast. Avoid the south and most smaller midwest towns.
And have a bug-out plan. A detailed plan, which covers immediate, intermediate and long-term actions.
Keep a “go bag” ready at all times. Build it up over a few months if need be. Cash money, as much as you can spare from daily expenses. Even $20 a week adds up. Get a passport, and keep it up to date. Two or three days worth of clothes, with both dress-up and dress-down options. Paper maps, because you won’t want your phone to be on if you’re seriously bugging out.
Immediate Plan: where to go in your hometown, if They start rounding people up. In today’s world the cops have almost everyone’s address, if they want it. Have a safe haven you trust to to get you off the street for a day or two.
Intermediate Plan: Can you get to an international border? Plot out several routes, with an eye to avoiding as many government agencies as you can. If you have a car, keep it in good repair, and keep a full tank of gas whenever possible.
Long-term: Once you’ve made it to a safe haven, is that where you want to stay? Canada or Mexico may be safe now, but we’re awfully close to the US. Can you get to Europe, or Japan? Find out your options.
Some will say you’re paranoid, but when they really are out to get you, paranoia is just common sense.
Oh, and don’t tell anyone any more about your plans than you absolutely have to as part of the plan. Anyone you talk to, you’re trusting them with your life.
But it won’t be “Just because they’re trans”. It will be because “They’re evil groomers trying to corrupt our children!”
There are all sorts of examples you can find of cops planting evidence of crimes. Get some hard-core anti-LGBTQ+ type people into power, and how hard would it be to plant evidence of child pornography on someone during a bust? “See, we told you “they/them” was a pre-vert!”
Not all MAGAs may be reflexively anti-trans, but enough of them are that all the anti-trans messaging worked on them. Trump et al. may not care about it themselves, but that means they don’t care about it. If a bunch of their followers want to purge their town of trans people, Trump et al. will be fine with just looking the other way.
