How can I tell if my post went through?

Sometimes, when the board is busy, I’ll hit “submit reply,” and I’ll get a “Your dimwit browser cannot find that page.” screen. Sometimes, if I let it go at that, my reply just gets lost. Sometimes, if I go back and submit again, I’ll get a double post. Is there a way to tell what happened? I don’t like to clog the system with dupliduplicationcation, but a ghost post is no fun, either.

Go back and click the “Preview Reply” button (NOT “Submit Reply” again), and when the page comes up, scroll down and see if your original post made it into the list of thread replies. That’s what I do, and 9 times out of 10 I find that it did go through.

Also…

Open each new thread in a new window from the list of threads as your starting point. If you try to post and get the blank screen or missing page or the eye of the needle has impaled the squirrel error messages, then go back to the list of threads and open the thread, AGAIN in a new window. If your post isn’t there, go to the window that went into oblivion, use the “back” button and resend it.

The answer is to do what Scarlett67 and AHunter3 have suggested: call up the thread again and see if your post is there.

Thanks, folks. I’ll try it that way.

Thats what I do. I open another window & cut & paste the url from the submit post page to it.
Half the time the post got posted.

I’ve had posts “hang” for several minutes. Occasionally you can get the thread reopened and your post will not be there yet, but it might show up a few minutes later.

Patience.
