How can you clear toolbar search history in IE 8?

Is there any way to clear the search history on the tool bar that automatically comes with IE 8 (not the Google toolbar, but the one in the far upper righthand corner.) You know, the one where you type in the first couple of letters of a word, and it happily pops up with everything ELSE you’ve ever searched for… I have tried everything and looked everywhere for an answer, and nobody else seems to know either. (I would be happy to uninstall IE8, but that’s another weird problem-- IE shows up on my shortcut computer menu and my list of programs, but NOT on my control panel “install and uninstall programs” list; I have searched and searched and searched. One weird problem at a time.) All suggestions much appreciated!

Safety, Delete Browsing History, check History, click delete. You can also delete individual entries by highlighting one and clicking the red “X” on the right.

And in addition you can also go to Tools>Internet options and where is says Browsing history check the box that says ‘delete browsing history upon exit’. Then every time that you close IE it will dump the history.

That was one of the earlier suggestions I found that didn’t do any good-- I think because it related specifically to the search history in that toolbar?? But clicking the red x worked! Thank you so much! It’s such a simple solution, but there are many poor lost souls wandering the internet who haven’t found it yet.
