How can you link to a specific moment in a YouTube video?

Strictly speaking, this isn’t ‘About This Message Board’, except that we frequently link to videos on YouTube… Mods, please shift this to wherever you think appropriate…

So, there is some way to link to a specific point in a YouTube video so that, rather than saying 'check out what happens at 2:54, you can simply link directly to 2:54. (If the viewer wants to see the whole thing, they can click back on the slider.) How can you do this? Please enlighten me…

Add “#t=1m23” to the end of the URL, where “1” is the minute you want and “23” is the seconds you want.

Like this?

Munch, I owe you a beer. I’ll do my best to see that you never regret this.

And if you’re ever in Portland, Oregon the beer is on me-that is useful information.

For what it’s worth, I forget it every time I want to use it. I just googled “link to a direct spot in youtube” and it was the first hit.

Umm. Never thought of that - make that two beer I owe you…

Man, I always miss out on the beer.

For some reason the exact combo of little numbers escapes my mind every single time. So I use YoutubeTime. Which is me being unbelievably lazy, I know, but there it is.

Better than what I do. I go make a comment on a page that includes time information (e.g. 3:24), and click on it to get the URL.

I do remember it more often now: you always use # to refer to parts of a webpage, and the rest is time = ? hours ? minutes ? seconds
